"The conservatives on here denying the affordability crisis are engaged in what I can only describe as an act of political suicide. They're also lying, which is the worst part. Grocery prices are up. Housing. Energy. Insurance. Health care. Basic living expenses. It's real. It's happening. Denying it just makes you look out of touch, deceitful, and untrustworthy. It's also a completely unnecessary and unforced error. No credible person is claiming that Trump caused these price surges. You don't have to disgrace yourself by denying the reality in front of your face just to prove your loyalty to Trump. The causes for the most part are multi faceted, complicated, and longstanding. That's true. So let's discuss them. Debating whether the problem exists at all -- or, if it does exist, whether it counts as a problem -- is a total waste of time, and makes you look like a shill and a fraud."

The Democratic Socialists know exactly what they are doing. It is the useful idiots that don’t understand.

I tell anyone that will listen that all this is Biden’s fault.
Trump is trying to unscrew what biden did to our economy.
Same thing happened when Reagan inherited Carter’s economy. It took Reagan 2 years to unscrew Carter’s mess.

It happens in our monetary system due to the expansion of federal debt (which is the reserve asset that new credit is created upon in our fractional reserve, fiat banking system). Inflation is in the end a policy choice by government about how to fund the government.

Your lost purchasing power was in reality taxed silently and secretly from you.

Something that you wrote with which I am in complete agreement.

There is no free lunch.

Except for that part. There *IS* a free lunch. It went to all the parasites receiving dollars they didn't work for.

"What occurred under Biden was worse, $7.50/gallon for gas, empty shelves in grocery stores, toilet paper scarce, housing horrible shape, insurance just up up and away."

Irrelevant. Trump got elected because he said he would fix these problems. Besides, in 2024, gas was not 7.50 (here on the East Coast) and were no empty shelves or toilet paper shortages. yeah, all these things happed under Biden circa 2021/2022 but they were not the case in 2024.

Sure but it’s not the Dust Bowl. No one unhappy about these obstacles wants to go back to BLM riots. Lockdowns. Open borders. Defund the police. Trannies in the Administration and cocaine in the WH.

My #50: I remember having steak. I have vivid memories of my mother pounding it till it was very thin and then frying it in a cast iron skillet.

You: “Ok, well good for you. I know for a fact it was not the norm around here and we were well off by comparison.”

If you think that pan-fried steak, beaten to a pulp was a sign of a luxurious life ...

Very true. The economy does not turn on a dime.

Let’s not forget that Trump is neither King nor God. I don’t blame Trump for poor forest management practices in blue states, fuel blend mandates and minimum wage increases in CA, riots in Portland OR, or anything happening in New York city, etc.

I’m talking about the cost of the meat, not the method of cooking it, lol.

I thought inflation was coming down until this Iran fiasco?

Attacking Iran wasn't a fiasco. It has been a simmering problem that we have put off far too long, and THANK GOD!!! we finally did the right thing!

I thought people on Free Republic were more knowledgeable and more intelligent, but I keep seeing so many ignorant mouths popping off about Iran being a mistake. No, the mistake was not doing it 47 years ago, or back in 1996 when Iranian mercenaries shot down Flight 800.

Those bastards have *CAUSED* all worldwide Islamic terrorism since 1979. And they were about to get nukes. Are you stupid Forest?

Our ancestors wern’t overwhelmed by massive unnecessary immigration.

Beyond that, they were tougher, because they didn't have a choice.

The stories my mother told about her life would be terrifying to modern people.

The dims want everyone to forget when all this mess started and by who. Again, totally irrelevant. Trump needed to fix these problems, not let them fester and blame the other party for starting them (Which they surely did)

Recognizing the problem and proposing solutions (which is what Matt is suggesting) is not "doom and gloom."

What solution does Matt propose that doesn't require allowing the Iranian nut brigade to make nukes?

Trump was handed a huge mess.
Economy, National security and out of control immigration.
Inflation we have not seen since a certain Georgia governor was in office.

The dims seem to intentionally create huge problems to leave for the next repub president so that they can blame the repub for the mess they made. Their media plays right along with the rat holing of the history.

Inflation is cooling. Prices are down month over month.

I go to the grocery store. I go to the gas station.

Prices are not down.

Lots of items are on "sale" for 25% off the "regular" price. I notice that the "regular" price went up 50% in the last year.

And gas prices? They have gone up.

I do not see the "inflation cooling" of which you speak.

Except for that part. There *IS* a free lunch. It went to all the parasites receiving dollars they didn't work for.

The lunch might have gone to them, but it wasn't free. Someone else paying for it doesn't eliminate the fact a cost is still borne somewhere, by someone. If it were truly free, then no one would bear a cost providing it.

On day one Joe Biden attacked energy and started the one of the highest jumps in inflation ever. Then he started spewing regulations and that put the cherry 🍒 on the inflation parfait.

“THIS DID occur under Biden. He left one of the biggest messes to ever occur in this country. Do you really think that possibly 20,000,000 illegal human beings who were waved across the border hasn’t devastated our economy? If you do you are out of touch. What do you think housing these people cost? How about feeding them? Healthcare? They just walk into hospitals, asked if they are here illegally answer “YES” it doesn’t matter, they get treated. Schools are inundated with illegal kids. Do you think that hasn’t impacted healthcare?

Do you really think this is going to go away overnight, hint THEY ARE STILL HERE, still need to be housed, fed, treated for illness and everything else under the sun to keep them alive. THE DEMOCRATS AND COURTS HAVE BLOCKED TRUMP FROM DAY ONE, intentionally, knowing it will destroy Trumps agenda and economy.

“”There are going to be a lot of disappointed Democrat voters when they take control and affordability gets worse.””

***

Then again.... affordability “always” gets worse under Democrat administrations. Carter=gas lines, Obama=Stagflation, OBiden=Illegals Invasion, etc.

That’s why it’s such a not-funny joke whenever Democrats whine about affordability under Republican administrations.
