The thing that gets me is that people actually think that the Democrats would make things more affordable. It is to laugh.
There are going to be a lot of disappointed Democrat voters when they take control and affordability gets worse.
It happens in our monetary system due to the expansion of federal debt (which is the reserve asset that new credit is created upon in our fractional reserve, fiat banking system). Inflation is in the end a policy choice by government about how to fund the government.
Your lost purchasing power was in reality taxed silently and secretly from you. There is no free lunch.
He helped a great deal. If you think prices are bad now, what do you expect them to be like when the financial center of the country gets hit with a nuke?
We've had 47 years to understand what kind of vermin are the Islamic Regime, and I can't believe so many of you just haven't learned the lesson.

I was born in the late 60s. My husband and I talk all the time about this - we grew up not ever remember having steak for a meal and we had many meals that were only veggies or some sort of beans. Then came hamburger helper, lol.
And both our dads were engineers!
I think we have gotten very accustomed to being able to live high off the hog and now we are eating steak less and hamburger more. It’s not the end of the world. The costs may stay high but everything else will catch up. I work with people in their early to mid 20s (and my son is also that age) and as much as they complain, they still eat out several times a week, and pay ridiculous amounts for coffee, lol.
Modern people are too soft and entitled.
I thought inflation was coming down until this Iran fiasco? And the economy was booming again before this Iran fiasco? Trump said so over and over.
Since both are now suffering, that must mean the Iran fiasco has, indeed, damaged us. Especially average working folks. But I guess a lot of the folks on FR are retired multimillionaires who don’t care anymore. They’ve become like the RINOs they despised so much - towing the party (maga) line - rather than supporting the working class. What a shame. Disgusting. No wonder FR is collapsing.

“Affordability” is a concept that has been rather ill-defined up to now. To the Democrat Socialists, it means subsidizing the consumer to keep prices artificially low, and thus inadvertently leading to scarcity, which is controlled by rationing. It is also used to force prices on “undesirable” goods and services much higher, by either extreme levels of taxation, or outright prohibition. Neither of these approaches works in the long run, but that is a lesson lost on the current generation.
Real affordability is actually a set of ratios that society has agreed upon, based on the estimated annual income of the individual, and based on the productivity of that individual in creating wealth, either by the sweat of the brow, or the machinations of intellect. Such and such a percentage of the total gross annual income is apportioned to food, housing, personal investments, lendable capital, and self-improvement, and so long as the individual is satisfied with the personal satisfaction achieved, all these things are “affordable”.
This concept is not at all understood by the Democratic Socialists, or anybody else with socialistic leanings. They think that all capital must be distributed according to the “greater good”, but they have no clue as to HOW the capital is generated in the first place, or that the individual has any rights whatsoever in determining how this capital shall be applied, and that those enterprises that are permitted can survive on subsidies from the largesse confiscated from the achievers who started the collection and investment of the capital. Activities or goods that are prohibited or restricted are managed by a crippling rate of taxation or rationing, which is supposed to be the source of the income the socialists plan to distribute to the greater part of the society, as a “reward”, or withheld to bring the recalcitrant into conformity.
Guaranteed to fail on some level or another, without the application of police power to compel the acceptance of the demands of the governing council of the socialist elite.

The economy is booming.
The stock market is booming on increased company earnings.
Ok, well good for you. I know for a fact it was not the norm around here and we were well off by comparison.
