Recognizing the problem and proposing solutions (which is what Matt is suggesting) is not "doom and gloom." What solution does Matt propose that doesn't require allowing the Iranian nut brigade to make nukes?

Matt didn't mention Iran at all in that statement, so I won't speak for him.
My prediction is that if the Iran war continues to simmer as it has been, the Iranians will launch an all-out attack in October on a variety of targets in the gulf and do some significant damage to oil production, perhaps with Russian and Chinese help. Fuel prices will spike to $200/barrel. The media will run with it 24-7 (think Tet Offensive) and attempt to do maximum damage to the Republicans in the run-up to the mid-terms.
