Healthy Diets Spark Lung Cancer Risk in Non-Smokers as Pesticides Loom

Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables was found to have a surprising link to lung cancer among younger non-smokers, early research suggests.

The observational study, led by Jorge Nieva, M.D., of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at Keck Medicine, was presented this month at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting in San Diego. It has not yet been peer-reviewed. Researchers looked at dietary, smoking and demographic data for 187 patients who were diagnosed with lung cancer at age 50 or younger.

They found that among non-smokers, there was a link between healthier-than-average diets – rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains – and the chance of lung cancer development. Young lung cancer patients ate more servings of dark green vegetables, legumes and whole grains compared to the average U.S. adult, the researchers found.

Oh, for the love of all things good. 🙄

Eat, drink and smoke what you like because clearly doesn’t make a difference.

“Cancer hates nicotine”
Is that why some long term smokers who quit, suddenly develop cancer?

“It is a small study (around 150) and observational, so no proof,” the doctor, who was not involved in the research, told Fox News Digital.

I’ll trust Dr. Siegel on this.

Besides we all know what is causing cancer in young people.

The largest worldwide cancer cohort used to be Chinese women who cooked on hot woks in homes with poor ventilation.

One piddling study.

Eat your veggies!

“Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables was found to have a surprising link to lung cancer among younger non-smokers, early research suggests.” I don’t eat much of that food, but I do smoke a few fags per day.

Young vegetarians are likely to be smoking pot and not calling that “smoking“ because it’s not tobacco.

I have been a cigarette smoker for 50 plus years and the last 30 years I have rolled my own using what is classified as a “pipe tobacco” No factory chemical treatments whatsoever as opposed to Federally mandated by cigarette makers. Not only do I inhale fewer complex carcinogens My cost is about .50 cents a pack....with the additives forced by government intervention store bought is loaded with far more complex carcinogens than pie/cigar tobacco....I thank the Lord above I have never had to address such a serious affliction such as a cancer of any sort.

Anyone remember this ? “ Hi, my name is Herb Zimmerman. I used to smoke twenty packs of cigarettes a day! Now, that I’ve lost one of my lungs I’ve cut my smoking in half!”

If nobody in the world smoked, people would still die from lung cancer. They can blame it on whatever they want to blame it on... Radon, too healthy a diet, too unhealthy a diet... Etc., etc.

90+ percent of your health depends on your genes and good luck. Living this way or that way will never prevent the inevitable.

Indoor smoking bans didn’t start until the 90s.

Most people start working in late teens.

So even if indoor bans were everywhere in 1990 and no one started working until age 18, that means anyone born before 1972 were in workplaces with people smoking inside.

So if second hand smoke were as dangerous as claimed, then anyone born before 1972 will die of a smoking related illness.

But that’s not happening...
