Trump’s ‘American flag blue’ reflecting pool turns nasty green after $14M glow-up — admin blames Obama

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool still needs some algae emancipation.

Just days after the iconic Reflecting Pool reopened following President Trump’s $14 million renovation to seal the concrete bottom with an “American flag blue,” its familiar gnarly-looking green algae once again took over.

“Versus previous administrations, the National Park Service is actually maintaining the beautifully completed Reflecting Pool,” a spokesperson for the Department of the Interior told The Post.

“The nanobubbler technology has successfully destroyed the algae bloom that has plagued every pool reopening since 1922, most infamously, the Obama pool reopening that resulted in massive algae clumps taking over the pool’s surface,” the spokesperson went on.

“Now, due to deploying the advanced nanobubbler technology, the algae is dead and being vacuumed up as we speak. We thank President Trump for fixing the Reflecting Pool for good.”

In addition to sealing the concrete bottom of the Reflecting Pool, the Trump administration spent $1.7 million on an upgraded ozone nanobubbler filtration system, which is intended to disperse tiny oxygen bubbles to undercut algae’s food supply, according to online federal contracting records.

Algae has been a perennial issue in the shallow, 6.7 million-gallon artificial basin, which was constructed in the early 1920s.

The National Park Service initially indicated the return of the green-looking water was the result of dormant algae that sat in the pipes for weeks and came roaring back after the massive pool was filled back up.

DJT was trying to buy 3-6 months time to get past 250 celebrations. Lipstick on a pig. Sewer Swamp Summer in DC with sh*tty plumbing; it was never going to work. Not BHO problem. Sh*tty planning and execution

Shallow water in DC heat? If it’s not moving, treated, and filtered it will be a swamp in about three days.

Pools are like that.

I hope they treat for mosquitoes as well.

A wave machine would aerate it and add the perfect special touch.

They've given the explanation, they've told you what the plan has always been. The new system will prevent it from becoming what it was, and they will adjust if needed. Another silly, infantile gotcha article that always results in no gotcha.

So many useless leeches and fraudster con artists perpetually upset about an administration that just gets things done and at a reasonable price.

I was a water safety Supervisor at a municipal pool in the summer. The pool was built in the 30s as WPA project and was basically a big bathtub. No filtration system. It was a 20 by 100 yd pool with a 6ft deep end. I had to shock it twice a day to keep the PH level up. The pool was drained and refilled twice a week.

However, it has a water garden dedicated to his mom. It’s on a much smaller scale and is more likely to crack because of the Chicago winters, than to grow algae.

Maybe it’s time to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the algae where it gets 300 billion so long as it pinky promises to disperse and let the reflecting pool shine, pretty please.

I have read they can’t add certain chemicals

As a former pool owner, I can tell you that it doesn't take long to go yucky green without chemicals.

The reflective pool has all the pumps and water shut off during the cleaning and sealing of the pool. These pumps and pipe contained algae and has not yet circulated through the filters. When the water was turned back on the existing algae was pumped back into the pool. In time the water will be treated and the filters will do their job. This will turn into a nothing burger in a few weeks.
