President Donald Trump told the media on Wednesday, “I love the inflation” report that came out earlier in the morning, showing inflation had risen above 4% for the first time in three years.
“Are you concerned, Mr. President, about the latest inflation number, which came out this morning? Could that be a–” a reporter asked Trump during an Oval Office Q&A.
Trump cut in and answered, “No, I love it. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love the inflation.”
“You know why? Because as soon as this war is over, you know, I can say it now. Something you didn’t know. Do you know we’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil? Nobody knows it. You know who doesn’t know about it? Iran — until right now. We took out, the other night, 22 ships, late at night, with no lights, because they don’t have any radar, because we blasted the crap out of it,” Trump continued, adding:
We took it, that’s why oil is $85 a barrel. I mean, you take a look. Remember when I did this, I said, look, the one bad thing will be, we hit the best economy we’ve ever hit. And I said to my people, I had Scott, I had Howard, I have Pete, I had all of them. I had Todd in the room. I said, the one thing we have to do now — we had just hit the highest stock market in history, highest 401ks in history, everything was going well — and I said, I hate to do this to you guys, but Iran’s going to have a nuclear weapon very soon. We have to attack."
Na he doesn’t care about the average American as people will voice their bad intentions. He just happens to say it out out loud but he knows he is not running again so it doesn’t matter.

I was stationed in Germany from 77-81. I lived in a small town on the Mosel River, Traben-Trarbach. I ate dinner at the local gasthaus 2-3 times a week.
My neighbors pleaded with me to vote for Carter, because they were certain that Reagan would start WWIII. We carried on conversations leading up to the election, which were conducted entirely in German. Living off base for 4 years helped me develop conversational near fluency.
My premise for electing Reagan was simple: the world is a safer place when America is strong, and Reagan was best equipped to engineer the country away from the weakness of the Carter Administration.
On my next visit to the gasthaus after Inauguration Day, I was invited to sit at the stammtisch, a table reserved for family and close friends of the family.
He means Israel is happy, so he is happy
Trump is at 41% in Rasmussen today, after 3 straight days of 40 percent. His egomania refuses to let him acknowledge anything other than the fact he thinks he’s great and everything he does is great. He really has no idea that people are getting very tired of this act and stupid statements like this don’t help him.

In the Valley Forge days of the Revolution, people were climbing down Washington’s throat, saying how stupid he was. Thomas Paine had some words for them:
“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”
I sometimes think there are people on here who’d like nothing better than to see our War Horse shot right out from under us.

I respectfully disagree with you, FRiend. I'm one who supports the President, but wish he'd limit his trolling and bombast with those who hate him. I understand his stylings are a feature of his personality, so I focus on the outcomes. Except for the border, things aren't so hunky dory at the moment.
Our mortal enemies are constantly ablaze with fires of hatred for Trump. Everywhere you look on the left you see it. It grieves me to see people on Free Republic throwing gasoline on those fires.
The press will never credit him with anything good. So he credits himself. I’m OK with that. I see him standing between US and the Deluge. And I thank him for that. He takes a lot of heat from the left and the press. But I repeat myself. He sure as hell doesn’t need it from us.
Inflation is the way government cancels debt without an explicit default. Trump continues to spend like a drunken sailor. He thinks debasing the currency is a way to dodge the bullet.
But since the deficit and debt are driven by entitlement spending, and entitlements are indexed, inflating the currency simply inflates the unfunded liabilities that drive the spending in the first place.
What did Zimbabwe end up with ... a $100 trillion note, or something like that? And it was worthless, even in Zimbabwe, except as a collectors item. Trump seems fine with doing that to the dollar. And when we start printing $100 trillion notes, he’ll want to put his own picture on them.
Which might be appropriate.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve completely tuned out this clown by this point. If Trump publicly announced the Second Coming, I’d be one of the last people to hear about it.

This foreign policy & economic stupidity will have huge political consequences.
What will he do when the Fed wants to increase the interest rates? I thought he was mad the last guy wouldn’t lower them as he wanted. It is the inconsistency that I think scares people the most, and has a number of them backing away from their pro vote in 2024.
There seems to be 3 categories of reaction at this thread.
1. He doesn’t know what he is saying and I don’t know or agree with what he is saying, so adios.
2. I don’t know what he is saying but trust he and his core group know what they are doing and it will probably work out.
3. Did he ever know what he was doing or did I ever know what he really was planning and doing, or is something very strange going on and we may not like the final result since he changes course so frequently.
I have not noticed it stated here, but there are those who have wondered whether his contact with Putin has been honest, or is a long game to give Putin what he wants or get Trump what he wants. I guess time will tell.
That was pretty clear in consideration of the “$85 a barrel” comment.

You understand the President’s verbal shorthand. He occasionally forgets that many of his listeners don’t have his background in business and IPR. He makes quantum verbal leaps and expects others to follow him. You’d be a great interpreter for him.
I don’t think Trump is talking about stealing 22 ship loads of oil FROM Iran. He is talking about slipping 22 NON IRAN oil ships through the Strait without Iran catching them doing that. Also a lot more of that has also been happening is my impression of what he also said/implied? All made possible by Trump’s great war effort destroying all that Iran radar.
That said, it didn't stop others from calling it "plunder".
