President Donald Trump told the media on Wednesday, “I love the inflation” report that came out earlier in the morning, showing inflation had risen above 4% for the first time in three years.
“Are you concerned, Mr. President, about the latest inflation number, which came out this morning? Could that be a–” a reporter asked Trump during an Oval Office Q&A.
Trump cut in and answered, “No, I love it. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love the inflation.”
“You know why? Because as soon as this war is over, you know, I can say it now. Something you didn’t know. Do you know we’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil? Nobody knows it. You know who doesn’t know about it? Iran — until right now. We took out, the other night, 22 ships, late at night, with no lights, because they don’t have any radar, because we blasted the crap out of it,” Trump continued, adding:
We took it, that’s why oil is $85 a barrel. I mean, you take a look. Remember when I did this, I said, look, the one bad thing will be, we hit the best economy we’ve ever hit. And I said to my people, I had Scott, I had Howard, I have Pete, I had all of them. I had Todd in the room. I said, the one thing we have to do now — we had just hit the highest stock market in history, highest 401ks in history, everything was going well — and I said, I hate to do this to you guys, but Iran’s going to have a nuclear weapon very soon. We have to attack."

Excuse me for not quite understanding what he’s trying to say.
It’s a very free market thing to say. Inflation is a natural consequence to fraudulent spending, debt and debased currency. It’s a pain that can awaken consciousness.
I’ll have to see exactly what he said. I don’t trust Mediaite. I didn’t even know it was still around.
I doubt he does either.

when things influence the free market, ie government, wars, etc., inflation grows... and 4% is nothing compared to biden 17%.... so when the market gets back to normal, things will be looking up, but not inflation.
The verbiage about the war is a re-hash of what we’ve been hearing for months, and it does nothing to alleviate investors’ (and voters’) real concerns about inflation.
You can parse “I love the inflation” till you’re blue in the face, but it’ll still be a staggeringly out-of-touch comment.

You have to take it in context, the part I quoted is part of the inflation comment. It means that oil prices will come down and so will inflation.
You’re in good company. My wild guess is that he’s trying to say inflation’s transient, but that’s what every administration (including the last one) says when the numbers suck. And “I love the inflation” is probably the worst way to express that thought.
His comments regarding long-time Knicks fans being priced out of attending Game 3 of the NBA Finals at MSG was similarly tone-deaf.

Read the quote in post 2. It’s part of his inflation comment, and adds context. It’s not hard to understand.

What Trump is saying is that compared to Biden this is paradise and where we are heading is even better.
We weren’t saying that when Biden was sleeping through the Presidency.
