In an incident that belongs in Ripley's Believe It or Not!, a dog managed to fire a gun and hit a woman while it was inside a vehicle last week in Nebraska.
As KNOP reported, Scottsbluff police officers were called to Short Stop at 2002 Avenue I in the city after receiving a report that a person had been shot by a BB gun at 12:07 p.m.
They were later informed while driving to the gas station and convenience store that the incident involved a shotgun.
When the police arrived, they were confronted with a shocking truth: the culprit responsible for the shooting incident was not human. Rather, it was man's best friend.
Yes, a dog accidentally pulled the trigger of a gun and somehow shot a woman from several feet away!
KNOP reported:
According to Scottsbluff police, the owner of the truck had pulled into the convenience store. While the passenger was standing near the front passenger-side door, a dog in the back seat moved from one side of the vehicle to the other.
The dog triggered a shotgun that had a live shell in the chamber, causing the firearm to discharge.
At the time of the gunfire, a woman was stopped at the traffic light on Avenue I with her arm resting out of the window. One pellet from the shotgun blast struck her in the upper right arm.
Her injury was not believed to be life-threatening, and a family member transported her to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.

First question: what breed of dog was it? Then we can decide if it was “an accident.”
Don’t buy me no more of dat cheap dog food.
Poor dog must have been traumatized./sarc
No doubt it was a gun dog.
Let me think about this from a firearm enthusist for 60+ years. Shot gun on the seat of a truck, live round chambered, firearm not on safety. Something is not right here. No I know what you may be thinking. The dog is not that smart to take the safety off as well as pull the trigger. But then again, dogs are pretty smart these days.
Probably a pit bull. We all know how murderous they are. Now they’re packing shotguns. Accident my eye.
The dog needs more time at the range.
“YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP: Dog Shoots Woman with a Shotgun During Gas Station Stop. That’s why I don’t allow my Lab Henry to handle firearms, he’s crazy that way.
I would guess pit bull but I think they prefer you stay alive as long as you can while they work at you.
If I was still married to my ex-wife, I’d say that shooting a woman proves the dog is man’s best friend.
Or, a doggun dog!
If the dog’s name is Bullet, this is probably not his first time ‘playing’ with the owners’ gun.
Maybe the victim was driving one of Elon’s E-Cars.
That ugly model E-Car, with the Tee-Pee roof.
The Dog Owner has a ready alibi: “I was inside the store, purchasing a Pepsi and a Chili Dog. I couldnt’ believe what was happening to me!”
So the dog shot a woman who had a shotgun. Self-defense; got it.
Or maybe . . .
Reminiscent of the plot in the song “Della and the Dealer” (1979, Hoyt Axton).
