The Rotten Truth About the Egg Cartel
The American Spectator ^ | August 20, 2025, 10:04 PM | John Mac Ghlionn

They lied. For 50 years, nutrition “experts” told you eggs would kill you. A University of South Australia study just proved them wrong. Eggs don’t cause heart disease. They never did.

The methodology was embarrassingly simple. Separate the effects of cholesterol from those of saturated fat. The result? When eaten without excess saturated fats, eggs actually help reduce bad cholesterol. Any halfway competent researcher could’ve figured this out in the 1970s. But they didn’t — because they didn’t want to.

The American Heart Association built its empire by peddling cholesterol-centered panic. By 2016, documents revealed the AHA had taken sizeable sums in corporate funding from companies like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. It was the public-health equivalent of Mothers Against Drunk Driving being bankrolled by Budweiser.

Big Pharma sold billions in statins. Food companies launched entire product lines around “low-cholesterol” labels. Admitting eggs were harmless would have shattered the illusion that made them all rich. So they buried the truth. Deep. (RELATED: The MAHA Movement Continues to Gain Steam)

The body count from bad dietary guidance likely exceeds most modern epidemics.

Meanwhile, people suffered. Generations avoided a cheap, complete protein. Kids missed out on nutrients critical for brain development. Seniors fell into malnutrition, faithfully following the same advice that was killing them. The body count from bad dietary guidance likely exceeds most modern epidemics.

And the establishment didn’t care. They had careers to protect. Markets to expand. Money to make.

This pattern repeats across the entire nutrition industry.

Butter was demonized for decades (and to a large degree, still is), even though it contains vital fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Instead, we were told to eat margarine, industrially processed sludge full of trans fats that actually caused the very heart disease they claimed to prevent. They banned the natural and pushed the toxic.

Salt was...

The worst of it is that these people were likely able to screw themselves into believing they were doing a good thing.

There are all kinds of eggs. Some chickens are kept in filthy hen houses and eat nothing but grain. The best eggs are pasture raised, and the chickens eat bugs and worms and someone here said his chickens even eat frogs.

Pasture raised eggs are more expensive but so what? They have golden, not yellow yolks and are loaded with omega 3’s. I poach them, keep the yolks runny. I buy mobile pasture raised eggs that come from the same state I live in, wonderfully fresh.

A grad student researcher at the University of Wisconsin told me the research on cholesterol was not valid, about 1974.

I am grateful that I largely ignored most of the popular advice on diet and instead ate what seemed right and mostly in moderation. That is except for falling victim to my sweet tooth and love of bread and pastry.

Sugar and a lot of white stuff, like bread, are what seem to be not so good for us.

Mazola and margarine were myths that got us to accept them instead of the butter being sent to troops.

HFCS is motivated by profit greed and is pure franken food.

Eating lots of fat just can’t be good for anyone.

We also drank from the garden hose regularly, rode bicycles without helmets and body armor, shot bb guns and so forth but survived anyway.

All part of the plan to keep us from eating meat.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals."

After reading the dumbass author’s title and skimming the content, my opinion remains unchanged (re ‘egg cartel’).

Good points lost with idiocy.

So it’s not an ‘Egg Cartel’, it’s an anti-Egg Cartel.

Demonize eggs, butter, and animal fat only to roll out “healthier choices”, like margarine, shortening, and seed oils.

I don’t know about 50 years. It’s always changing. Eggs are bad, eggs are good, egg whites are good egg yolks are bad, no wait the yolks are good the whites are bad. They change their minds about eggs every 4 or 5 years. And this here is another cycle through. They’ll change their minds again.

Eating eggs is only a small part of the ‘EGG CARTEL’. Hendricks/Hobs control the GENETICS, and the Big Five egg/meat birds control the Price.

And our DUMB AG SEC. ROLLINS hasn’t figured that out and never will; she is BIG AG.
