Costco rival removing all self-checkout machines... and replacing them with something even worse

Sam's Club stores is axing all self-checkouts from its 600 stores — in favor of controversial new technology.

The Walmart-owned warehouse chain, often seen as Costco's biggest rival, is rolling out AI-powered 'Scan & Go' tech that lets shoppers skip the line and walk straight out the door once they're done shopping.

The move is controversial because it uses a network of cameras and sensors to track shoppers and their carts.

In addition, the checkout-free experience requires all customers to use a smartphone and download the store’s app.

This could pose a challenge to older shoppers who may struggle with technology.

The shake-up is aimed at reducing checkout wait times as it eliminates the need for an employee to check receipts at the exit.

Customers will scan the product barcodes as they go around the store, put the item in their cart and then pay for the items in the app when they are done.

Rather than go to a register, they exit through an airport-style scanner with AI cameras that analyze carts to make sure all items in there have been scanned and paid for.

When will WalMart get this system? They already have the WalMart app and theft is substantial at every WalMart - Sam's Club is just the beginning for WalMart I believe

The world will not see the Mark of the Beast until the MIDDLE of the 7-year Tribulation Period - the 7-years of 'Peace and Security' - However, we preach to the world NOW while there is yet still time (and some freedom) to warn the unbelieving part that do not know the Scriptures

I can remember when I was younger we still had full service gas stations. They pumped the gas for you,, cleaned your windows and checked the dip stick for oil levels if you asked. Feels like a very long time ago now. You paid a premium but I think it was a good business model because you formed a relationship with the station and the people working there. Good old days now.:)

I’m not aware of a premium since every gas station was full service, perhaps some charged more as it was disappearing.

To pay my apartment rent in high school I worked doing that, and it was nice work.

We would check the oil and look at the hoses and battery, clean the windshield and headlights, check tires and top them off if needed and eyeball the tread and measure it if suspect, I think a lot of people would love that service while their gas is pumping.

Back then most stations finished up with some freebies such as another drinking glass for a fill-up toward your full set, or trading stamps, or something for your trade.
