Has Noah's Ark been found? Boat-shaped mound in Turkey was underwater 5,000 years ago, scientists say - the same period as the Biblical flood

According to the Bible, Noah's Ark saved humanity and all the animals from certain annihilation during an ancient flood.

Now, 5,000 years after those floodwaters supposedly receded, scientists claim to have discovered the location of the famous boat.

An international team of researchers claims that a boat-shaped mound 18 miles (30km) south of Mount Ararat in Turkey is actually the fossilised remains of a wooden vessel.

The Durupinar Formation is a 163-metre (538ft) geological structure made of a type of iron ore called limonite.

It has long captivated researchers due to the fact that its shape and structure almost match those given for the Ark in the Bible.

New evidence shows that the mound really did experience a devastating flood 5,000 years ago.

This supports the biblical account of a flood covering the region between 3000 and 5500 BC.

'Our studies show that this region harboured life in that period and that, at some point, it was covered by water, which reinforces the possibility that a catastrophic event of great magnitude occurred,' the researchers said.

Since 2021, a collaboration between Istanbul Technical University, Agri Ibrahim Cecen University, and Andrews University in the United States has been studying the site under the banner of the Mount Ararat and Noah's Ark Research Team.

During the 7th International Symposium on Mount Ararat and Noah's Ark, researchers presented new evidence that could support their theory that the structure is an ancient ship.

Researchers took 30 samples of soil and rock from around the Durupinar Formation and sent these to the Istanbul Technical University for analysis.

The tests showed that the soil contains traces of clay-like materials, marine deposits, and even the remnants of marine life such as molluscs.

Dating these samples showed that they were between 3,500 and 5,000 years old.

Hype artist Ron Wyatt popularized it starting 1977 to raise money for himself. Wyatt also claimed to have found the site of the Red Sea crossing of the Exodus, complete with ancient Egyptian army artifacts.

Even if this was irrefutably confirmed to be Noah's ark including finding of the captain's log and dung piles conclusively shown to exhibit the DNA of every known creature within it, there will be some who simply refuse to believe it because it conflicts with their world (and afterworld) belief systems.

While I believe AI will be developed with the intent of promoting various social and political agendas, nothing would shut down its development quicker than if AI were to someday reach the conclusion that the existence of a supreme rational supernatural being is the only possible explanation for the created universe.

This has been known for years. I saw a photo of it in LIFE magazine back in 1956. The actual formation was found by an air survey in 1948.

MWP-1A is estimated to have caused a global sea level rise of approximately 14–20 meters over a period of 400–500 years, with rates up to 40–60 mm/year.

It occurred 14,700–14,300 years ago.

This rapid rise required the release of massive volumes of meltwater, primarily from the melting of major ice sheets like the Laurentide Ice Sheet (North America) and possibly contributions from the Antarctic Ice Sheet.

The total volume of water released during MWP-1A is estimated to be on the order of 5,000–10,000 cubic kilometers per year sustained over centuries.

MWP 1A preceded Noah by 9,000 years. The sea levels rose 0.1 to 0.2 feet per year during MWP 1A — hardly a catastrophic flood.

Exactly. I saw a documentary about 10 years on this. The only thing that was strange to me is that they showed massive stone sea drogues around it. It is goofy for those things to be out in the middle of nowhere. The thing that bothered me is that they had Templar Jerusalem crosses carved into them. Sounds like the Templars might have found the ark first.
