Called my father tonight to talk about stuff and he wondered if I called to see if he had floated away! I didn't know about the flooding there. Wow, 9.33 inches of rain in less than 24 hrs.

Must be global warming. Rained cats and dogs one day in San Antone when we were there last summer. Weather forecast: Hot and rainy.

That's a lot of rain, but I think anything's better than drought and water-rationing. I'm east of San Antonio. We haven't had nearly that much rain-- just some every day, which is unusual. The clouds have been great, though-- they keep the temperatures down, and my lawn hasn't burnt up for the summer, yet. I love that low that keeps hanging around and giving us this weather.

Because of the drought conditions in these parts, we are very happy to get this rain. I have heard of no major flooding anywhere in the area, and it's a joy to see the lakes rise.

Of course, if it doesn't stop soon, we may have serious flooding, and I would hate to see that. For the moment, we are still happy about the rainfall.

I remember that rainy day in San Antonio---it not only rained cats and dogs, but anarchists, as well--LOL!

I can imagine the flooding that is going on with this much rain and still raining!

We received 10 inches of rain one day in Boerne outside San Antonio in about a six hour period and at the high school they took a canoe and paddled around the campus. Roads were flooded all over town.

I cannot imagine what some of the roads that always flood must look like down there. Just hope the driver's don't drive around the roadblocks like they usually do.

Have never seen it rain as hard as I have when we lived in the San Antonio area.

I wonder how the 'protected' salamanders are doing? The salamanders are a protected species and I've sure been worrying about them. We have to wait to water lawns, wash cars and even flush toilets in San Antonio at times due to this wonderful little species. Maybe the aquifier has filled up a bit to help the little guys?

My father was born in Boerne. My family moved back to Austin/San Antonio after he retired from the USAF. We lived there for most of the 70's and 80's. That's where I basically grew up.

The most rain I remember in one day was around 5" in 1980 or so, when we lived north of SA (Nacogdoches Rd and Thousand Oaks, to be precise). A car was washed off a road a few hundred yards from our apartment and the driver died. It was the first day of school.

As teenagers, we would go to the "Chute" in New Braunfels after a heavy rain. The flood water moved so fast through the chute that we would be propelled to the opposite bank in seconds. It was like a cannon. We were idiots!

We're north of S.A. in central Texas and about to float away, with more rain forecast over the next two days. Trying not to complain because we need rain, but gee, couldn't some of this be saved for August? On the plus side, the temperatures are considerably below normal.

There was also the large flood in Comfort that took out the Boy Scout camp.

I remember one rain where the Guadulupe River left cows in the trees it was so high! Almost crossed the river going north on 474 and that bridge over the Guadalupe River there is really high above the river.

Really enjoyed living in Boerne. When we were transferred to Kelly AFB, we were not about to live near the base so we chose the Hill Country. My oldest daughter graduated from Boerne High School and my son played football for them until we moved.

Small world as Boerne is not very big but sure is very conservative!

My ponds have been dry for six months and they're all running over now. The Pedernales River out my back door was out of it's banks and burrying my back yard in flotsam and jetsam. BUT I'M NOT COMPLAININ! Thank you Lord!

This is our sixth year of drought and rain is so precious. I pray this is a harbinger of things to come.
