To all my fellow Freepers who live in California,
Especially those in the Los Angeles area,
I'm monitoring the out-of-control fires that are raging in your area. My heart breaks for you all.
The scenes I am seeing look like a Biblical disaster. A small nuclear device would have done less damage. The entire LA area looks like it will be utterly destroyed.
I'm leaving out any discussion of fault, that is fodder for another thread. This thread is simply to wish you all well. Please remember, your life (and the life of those you love, including pets) is of paramount importance. Material goods, while important, are not as important as your safety.
As you can, please check in and let us know you are safe.
For those who have not yet understood how bad it is, please see this video, which is a shot someone took who was flying into LAX.

San Luis Obispo. Safe. No fires anywhere, and the winds are manageable.
Surprising, as this is as -- or even more -- devastating than a small nuclear weapon detonated in the region.

Lord, Heavenly Father, please protect our brothers and sisters Freepers who are in harm’s way in California!
Checked on some friends in the area. They currently check safe. But, WOW! Like the fires in the Sierras a while back except highly congested population in this case.
This breaks my heart. I even have some empathy for the liberals in the region. This is nothing short of Biblical, in scope.
A lot of people here badmouthing Californians seem to forget that the founder of this forum, Mr. Robinson, lives in California - in fact, if he’s still in Fresno, he’s in a place which also experiences wildfires.
(And if I recall, one of the flags I see most frequently on FR homepages, is the California one.)

LA is ugly big, and by big I mean spread out. It will survive to do a Gloria Gaynor reprise and continue its decline in the ordinary course of business.
