Celsius Vs Fahrenheit
Metric System
Trying to Make America Lose Again.
Whatever one grew up with is ‘better’.
It would seem that freezing should be zero...
Many mechanical things have a button to switch from F to C. My scale and indoors thermometer.
I remember decades ago hearing about degrees CENTIGRADE not degrees CELSIUS. Somewhere along the way the use of centigrade was abandoned.
Stuff it, you smarmy bitch.
Fahrenheit more concise
Fahrenheit is more precise. And our weights and measures are more useful than Metric.
it was a nefarious plan to ultimately sell more tools
Kelvin should be the only way to measure temperature as it starts at absolute zero. Thermodynamics and Gas Laws are based on Kelvin. It corresponds to −273.15 °C on the Celsius temperature scale and to −459.67 °F on the Fahrenheit temperature scale.
Example: If the temperature goes from 10 degrees C to 20 degrees the temperature did not double. It increased 3.5%.
Kelvin is easy.
At minus forty degrees, it doesn’t matter.
Typical globalist leftist, trying to make America as bad as the rest of the world.
Fahrenheit is nice because a ten degree range matches with clothing choice. The nineties mean wear as little as you can get away with. The sixties mean long sleeve shirt and pants, but no jacket needed, etc. In Celsius you would need to break the range into upper and lower because the twenties C would be from 68 to 86F.
The Metric system is Un- American
Kelvin
The Communist temperature scale has never lived up to any of its alleged benefits. Nor has the (equally Communist) metric system in general.
If Base 10 is so inherently superior, why did some cultures find it more practical to use Base 12? Or Base 60?
Why do you think there are 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour? And why haven’t they managed to come up with a 100-second minute or a 10-hour day?
Metric system be damned, Pi (π) is still “May I have a large container of coffee cream and sugar” (3.1415926535...). Avogadro’s number is still 6.0221415x10^23. If it confuses you when freezing and boiling don’t come out in even zeros, maybe math and science aren’t your cup of tea.
The original fairy tale was that the entire metric system was based on values that could be calculated independently anywhere on earth. A meter was supposed to be one ten-millionth of the distance from the equator to the north pole. A kilogram is defined by use of three different physical constants. And the boiling point of water changes with atmospheric pressure.
Over time they have found that despite its ersatz universality, the metric system still requires a single physical object to be the world’s standard, and that physical object must be kept under lock and key in a radiation-free vacuum container like some scientific holy grail. And all other “standards” are as-near-as-possible replicas of that one.
So in the fullness of time we’ve come to learn that it’s really no easier to standardize (and hence no more convenient) than he Imperial system. It’s been little more than an exercise in testing global gullibility.
Can you say “coronapanic”?
Let's do millibars versus inches of Mercury!!!
