An NYU study using Fitbit data suggests that modest weekly physical activity may reduce atrial fibrillation risk by up to 65%, underscoring the heart health benefits of regular exercise. A new study reveals that adding an extra hour of physical activity each week can reduce the risk of developing the most common type of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) by 11%.
Led by researchers at NYU Langone Health, the investigation focused on atrial fibrillation, a condition in which the heart’s upper two chambers beat rapidly and irregularly instead of at a consistent pace. If left untreated, this can lead to stroke, heart failure, and other issues. While past studies have linked exercise to reduced risk of this type of arrhythmia, nearly all of these analyses have relied on the participants’ often inaccurate estimates of their own activity levels, the authors say.

I’ve been thinking about getting a Teeter fit step. Maybe I should stop thinking and do it.
I had atrial fibrillation for two solid years. My cardiologist wanted me to drink 64 ounces of fluids every day.
I got tired of water, so started drinking 64 ounces of sodium free V8 juice every day.
My atrial fibrillation went away after two weeks and has not returned. It has been 124 days and counting.
Turns out low sodium V8 is loaded with potassium. Evidently the reason I had afib was because of a potassium deficiency. I now drink two 64 ounce bottles of low sodium V8 a week to maintain my potassium level.
Before my afib went away, my cardiologist was talking about a pacemaker and/or ablation, but I cured it myself with potassium.
Turns out this is not an unknown cure. I talked to somebody who went to the hospital for scheduled surgery but he had afib so they put him on a potassium drip overnight and the next morning the afib was gone and he had the surgery.
Potassium costs nothing. Hospitals make money by installing pacemakers and performing ablations.
If you have afib, you should try getting a lot of potassium. It can’t hurt you. I did the calculation, and 64 ounces of low sodium V8 contains 14 grams of potassium chloride, which is equivalent to about a teaspoon.
Potassium chloride is cheap. It tastes terrible, even if you mix it with something. If you can’t afford 64 ounces of low sodium V8 a day, you could try a teaspoon of potassium chloride every day for a couple of weeks.

I’m stuffed to the gills right now. I’m not moving anywhere!
“Spin”
Then Karine at the White House should be in good shape from all her spin of the Biden and Harris news.
“I already answered that and won’t waste all our time doing that again.”
“That was found to be fake news from the Right.”
Karine Jean-Pierre snaps at reporters after denying Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
“I meet with President Biden often and he is very aware of large amounts of foreign and national affairs information and energetic about expressing the background of his daily decisions.”
“He is as sharp as ever.”
This is something I am glad you share.
Please keep it up.
I very highly recommend a HIIT program - High Intensity Interval Training. Just search for HIIT to get more info.
It is considered THE most effective aerobic conditioning program - alternating high intensity heart beats with normal heart beats...and the heart is THE most important muscle in the body.
A good heart monitor is needed and I use this Fitcent model with re-chargeable battery - accurate to 1 beat per minute.

Thank you for all sharing
Ummm, I’m in my 80s so I’m just need something that is relatively easy but gets me moving.
I’m 75 - just any exercise daily is VERY beneficial.
Take it slow at first to build up your conditioning.
Regardless, a heart monitor is VERY beneficial to monitor your heart rate so you don’t overdue the stress. The devise I linked is about $40 and quite accurate.
Interesting information.
I don’t doubt the study’s conclusions. However, on the other hand, good studies show an increased risk of Afib in life-long endurance athletes. This puzzles researchers, but it may be that athletes grow thicker and tougher heart muscles that cause an interruption in the electrical signals.
The true cause remains speculative, but the correlation is slight but undeniable. I am an example. 60 years of track, soccer, triathlons and competitive cycling. I had an ablation 7 years ago and am now symptom free. Ran 400 miles and cycled 2000 miles this year. Not huge numbers, but steady. I’m 74.
” Evidently the reason I had afib was because of a potassium deficiency. “
And the Doc couldn’t figure it out cause he didn’t check or didn’t want to.
Can I do ten minutes a day?
Thanks for the info on LS V-8 for AFIB. I had AFIB prior to my ablation, and I have been AFIB free since the procedure last April. I also have LS V-8 in my refrigerator, but I don’t drink it regularly as I should. Guess I just found a new Resolution to add to my list.
I wonder if blood pressure medications mess up potassium absorption?
Thank you for this post! I’m going to do some research!!
If I did everything medical science says I should do for my health I’d be immortal. Kind of like all those devices that help improve gas mileage in my vehicles... They’d be producing gas and never run out.
I work out, eat and drink what I want (in moderation), don’t take any prescriptions and enjoy life. The aches and pains your body has means you’re having a good time.
Anything after 40 has been a freebie. Never expected to be as old as I am.
I was wrong about the teaspoon of potassium chloride. It is a tablespoon, which is about 14 grams of KCl. Probably a teaspoonful would work. I was just calculating how much KCl is in 64 ounces of low sodium V8 juice.
I bought this 2 months ago on sale for a total delivered price of $268.
Solidly built. The bar and arms fold away. It has front wheels to roll where you want it. I added a pair of 6” long wristbands to each of the arms to make them softer. I flip the treadmill on it’s side when not in use and lean against a bookcase it is next to so it takes up less room.
I go no more then 2.5mph. Any faster and you start hitting the back edge of the treadmill unless you walk faster faster faster!
Also great for hanging clothes on...
