I got the original version on our DVR. I just have to fast-forward thru the commercials.
I’ve spent many a Christmas Eve alone. That’s my preference. Can’t stand all the hullabaloo.Once you have kids though that peace and serenity goes right out the window. At some point between now and 3 pm tomorrow I have to make sauce, meatballs, sausage “. Two trays of baked ziti and two loaves of Italian bread. Yeah peace.
I remember being in my studio loft apt on Christmas Day eating cold chili out of the can and being reasonably content. Ahhh those were the days!
After dinner with a friend, and several converstations with family all over the USA, I will be spending the evening alone, except for God.
Our superb communications system makes spending time “alone” less of a problem than in previous centuries. I have always been comfortable in my own skin.
I will be watching “Miracle on 34th Street” It is a wonderful movie, on many levels.
I am fifty years old, have no friends nearby, my closest family abandoned me years ago because I have bipolar disorder.
It's times like this when ideations come.
I used to be a mental health professional. Helping people not commit the worst mistake they could make was part of my job.
Here I am, wanting to be dead myself. No, I don't plan to do something to harm myself.
But the pain and loneliness and despair, are hard to endure during the holidays.
With you in spirit.
Gifts were delivered this afternoon.
Here now with my Pyr.
Sun goes down and she wants to climb onto the bed for the night.
Family is a disaster of cluster B that cannot be changed, but, friends are genuine and they simply all have family plans.
Just watched R.C. Sproul message on what Christmas really means compared to what the world/flesh tells us what it should mean.
Peace here and peace to all.
Normally on Christmas Eve, I’d go to the local horse stables with a bag of apples and a bag of carrots to soak in the smells, quietly listen to the sounds and talk with Papa, thinking about what it was like when the Savior came into this world, but the stables have now been locked down to visitors and I don’t care to be arrested for hopping the fence.
May each who is alone tonight realize that you are are NOT alone. Please read John 10. He will never abandon or forsake you. He will never leave you alone.
He will leave the 99 to go find YOU!
When we feel we are alone, we have simply forgotten His Word and His promises to us. He is always ALWAYS faithful to His Word.
In this, may each be comforted in His presence. In John 14 & 16 Jesus promised a “Helper”, a “Comforter” and again, Jesus’ words are faithful and trustworthy. We are not alone.
Nobody who loves the Son and the Father is a reject. You are not abandoned. He chose you! He chose you personally...by name, knowing everything about you, He still chose YOU. The Comforter is beside you, surroundes you and if you are in Christ, He is even within you. You are not without hope, or despair, child of God.
Be of good cheer!
Jesus has overcome the world and “your” world.
This includes the trials in “your” world.
To each of us, a child was born.
To each of us, God’s Son was given, that we may have life and have it abundantly. Rejoice in the quite moments. Give thanks in the silence and presence of His Loving Spirit.
It
Is
Finished
Merry Christmas
All kinds of radio stations are available for free on ‘Tune In Radio’ on the Internet; I don’t think I’ve looked for a suggested station that wasn’t available there:

Find a good holiday film to lose yourself in, but if you’re in the Fort Myers area I’ve got a Christmas eve party invite for you!
Have you tried joining some kind of group - a church, a community organization, etc.?
You have us. We’re here and we listen.
My husband and I are alone tonight. Family is coming for dinner tomorrow evening. We have been in the kitchen for almost two whole days baking and preparing a big meal. BUT, my parents and siblings are all gone and it is bittersweet remembering the great fun Christmas with them, so many great memories. I miss them so much, so a part of me IS alone.
My brother, was a harness horse trainer/driver, eighteen years older than me. So one winter he was racing out of Raceway Park in Toledo, Oh. My mom was watching our little boy for the evening when we drove from Columbus to Toledo to watch our horses race. It was a driving snow, the night before Christmas Eve massive acculturation and we ended up, four of us sleeping in his tack room. We have all never laughed so much, a couple bottles of wine helped. The next morning at 6am, we opened the door to a foot and half of snow. It took us six hours back to Columbus, but we made it home, a great Christmas memory.
I’m solo with my cat and dog.
Hopefully cat will bring me a mouse....which the dog would steal! LOL
That’s a great story.
Just the wife and I.
Merry Christmas, Skooz!
It’s just me & Beau, as usual. We’re down to a Beagle and two indoor/outdoor cats. Steer, Mule and Chickens are in the barn; hunting dogs are all in their kennel shed. Beau just went down to do evening chores.
Making us a nice Ham Dinner with all the fixings, then we’re settling in to watch our Christmas Tradition of, ‘Die Hard.’
Peppermint Martinis may or may NOT be involved. ;)
God Bless Us Every One!
(Family Fun and Frivolity will fill the upcoming weekend. My side, then his side.)
