One of the bleakest places on Earth today is the central processing facility for the remains of dead soldiers in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, the logistical hub of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Designed to process hundreds of corpses at a time, this sprawling mega-morgue has been hopelessly overwhelmed for many months. Footage from the inside, posted by witnesses on social media, shows hundreds of bodies in various stages of decomposition and limbs strewn across the corridor floors. In wooden boxes lining the walls from floor to ceiling, row after row after row, are the lucky ones: those whose bodies were recovered from the battlefield, identified, sealed in zinc-lined caskets, and prepared for dispatch to their grieving relatives in the farthest corners of Russia. Many more corpses have been abandoned to rot in Ukrainian fields because evacuating them is impractical under the constant barrage of the defenders’ artillery and drones.
To be sure: These soldiers’ deaths are the necessary consequence of Ukraine’s right to defend itself against an illegal war of conquest. What’s more, many of these ordinary Russian soldiers likely committed despicable brutality and war crimes against Ukrainians, including defenseless civilians. But the horrific rate at which Russians are getting killed at the front—much higher than corresponding Ukrainian losses, although exact numbers are kept secret by both sides—points to two disturbing truths about the Russian way of waging war. First, a cruel disregard for human life extends to Russia’s own forces, which the Kremlin systematically deploys in so-called meat grinder and human-wave attacks. Second, mass death among Russian troops has become part of an increasingly explicit eugenics policy, by which the Kremlin seeks to rid Russia of undesirable elements and reconfigure the Russian population.

It's a Russian thang.
As Hitler's Wehrmacht tore through eastern Russia at the start of Operation Barbarossa, the German troops were bewildered by Stalin's callous disregard for the lives of his soldiers. They killed and captured Russians in their hundreds of thousands, yet Stalin sent still more. They could not imagine that such profligacy in human life could possibly continue. Yet it did.
This prompted Colonel Bernd Von Kielst to write, "The German Army in fighting Russia is like an elephant attacking a host of ants. The elephant will kill thousands, perhaps even millions, of ants, but in the end their numbers will overcome him, and he will be eaten to the bone."
Putin doesn't have to "do it" forever, only until the elephant is eaten.
Say "Hello" to the new Stalin.
Make that western Russia.
Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
Snakes always Lie.
Only someone as stupid as you would even try to pass this off as credible.
You and your fellow Zeepers lie like Democrats and leftists.
Maybe they can provide evidence of North Korean troops in Russia while they are it. Even Ukrainian sources are denying there are any.
I was just getting ready to research, then decided to read the rest of the posts first.
You are most welcome. So much of today's "appearance" of one thing is fully intended to obscure, rather than clarify.
It's funny that citing sources is an anathema for some on these threads who advocate for the "Biden" side while posing as of the "Trump" side. Camouflage remains camouflage. Clarity annoys many. :)
Still having fun bashing FR and pro-America FReepers?
Geez - I forgot about all those guys [and gal] sitting around in their briefs posting anti-FR stuff.
Yeah, the whole "Norks in Kursk" fiction story was part of The Narrative to enable the "long-range missiles into Russia proper" escalation.
Guess "Cookies" wasn't in on the whole "Hazelnut Rods From Vlad" development...
From a mindset perspective probably very much so. From an available-warm-bodies perspective perhaps not so much. In 2021 the population was around 140 million, with the large majority outside military age.
Now China or India...they have the masses of young men to expend. All those young Chinese men with no hope for a family of their own...gotta do something.
Paywall...can you post the rest?
My belief is that the mindset is the really important part.
Look at the US — we have 350 million people. That’s a lot. By the numbers, we could play the Meat Grinder game for quite a while. But you know we really can’t. When we get into a war and lose 3000 people our politicians start to panic.
Russia has the mindset. They beat the Mongols. They beat Napoleon. They beat Hitler. They may not have a huge number of people, but they believe sacrifice is how you win.
China and India definitely have the numbers. And they may also have the mindset. But I don’t remember a lot of examples of 10 million of them dying on the battlefield. They may not really be into that. And by the way, I believe the “young men with no hope for a family” are mostly in their 40s now. Younger generations are more or less 50/50 male and female.
Agree - good points.
😀
The Briefing Room is where frustrated, left-leaning pseudo-FReepers go to have fun with Dick and Jane.
I showed the numbers to disabuse people of the false notion believing Russians can just send meat wave after meat wave because they could do that in 1939.
Russia is not capable of sustaining that war any more. It is collapsing and it is time to give the final kick to finish them off.
Do you think it is not wise to end that threat, Ender Wiggin?
Given your sad and comic belief that Russia "is on the verge of collapsing" I can guess it is not the Americans/Ukrainians/Russians side.
