This is the healthiest vegetable of all, according to CDC: ‘Nutrient powerhouse’

When it comes to healthy eating, veggies are always a good choice — but one takes the cake for being the healthiest.

Watercress is the most nutrient-dense vegetable, receiving a perfect score of 100 in the CDC’s long-standing ranking of “powerhouse” fruits and vegetables (PFVs).

Chinese cabbage is a close second with a score of 91.99, followed by chard (89.27), beet greens (87.08) and spinach (86.43).

These foods, among a total of 41 that qualified as PFVs, were found to contain 17 nutrients, including potassium, fiber, protein, calcium, iron, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, zinc, and vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E and K.

Cruciferous items, including watercress, Chinese cabbage, collard greens, kale and arugula — as well as leafy greens, like chard, beet greens, spinach, chicory and leaf lettuce — took the top spots on the list.

Yellow and orange foods, like carrots, tomatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes — along with allium, citrus and berry croups — landed in the bottom half.

When it comes to the top veggie, watercress, nutritionists agree that it has a multitude of health benefits.

Tell me something I don’t know.

“Veggie” is babytalk; it’s evidence of the ongoing infantilization of American people.

BTW, I don’t use babytalk when addressing very small children. I have too much respect for them to do that.

LOL!!!

Mildly curious as to how the fags in the bathhouse will tag-team you all night if they’ve been eating watercress ...

I just use the “report abuse” feature and sent the following message to the mods on my own comment.... Watch carefully how FR responds to know whether you’re in a forum controlled by the leftist faggot opposition.

“Well? What are you going to do, fight for the despicable perverts or protect free speech?”

It’s a mild peppery flavor. Pioneer folk used to see wintercress (the only similarity is shape of the leaf and the flavor) pop up through the snow, and it was the first fresh greens they’d seen in months. I’ve eaten that, but it has to be enjoyed early on, it gets too strong as the spring comes on.

Well, it’s used by adults in all English speaking countries now - watching British cooking shows, you’ll hear it all the time; so I guess they don’t consider it ‘baby talk’. At worst it’s just a relatively new slang word.

I reiterate: “Veggie” is babytalk; it’s evidence of the ongoing infantilization of American people.

I am certain that watercress is a perfectly fine vegetable but I do not trust the CDC at all. I’m also pissed because some lefty moderator has been deleting my comments for using the words “faggot” and “dry vagina.” Leftist Karens are the mods on this very forum.

This is just a normal little report, some vegetable is more nutrient rich than another but this will somewhat deeply affect one of the two sexes, which sex will react to this and suddenly start buying it.

Cooked collard greens, kale are just as green n leafy and nutrient dense as watercress. And about one tenth the price. Autumn is prime time (inexpensive) for kale and collards, and they taste best now, with the cool and soon to be colder temperatures.

I eat greens to help move the steak I eat all the time move along.
Olive oil dressing with apple cider vinegar and some garlic with oregano and maybe a little other spice.

We cook kale with turnip green or collards or mustards.

They have little flavor of their own so they take on the flavor of the other greens, so it’s like a Greens Amplifier!..........

“Veggies”???

Is the author incapable of writing/speaking like an adult?

...................

In England which is famous for its playful language, Veggie is an adult word.

“We cook kale with turnip green or collards or mustards.”

I like to simmer any of them. Bring out flavor by using soy sauce instead of salt for an umami boost. Add some beans at the end. Drizzle some olive oil on them. Fresh ground black pepper helps.

Instead of beans you can add any diced cooked meat.
