Ex-FDA food chief issues 'do not eat warning' over breakfast foods potentially infected with H5N1

A former FDA food safety expert is urging Americans to change their cooking and grocery habits amid a growing bird flu outbreak on US dairy farms.

California recorded its sixth case of bird flu in dairy farmers in just three weeks and 11 more livestock herds have been affected by the virus, bringing the total to 90.

While there have been no official cases of the H5N1 virus infecting people through food, officials could not rule it out in one isolated case in Missouri earlier this year.

In light of this, ex-government food tester Dr Darin Detwiler told DailyMail.com people should begin making some dietary changes.

He said raw eggs pose the biggest risk, so popular breakfast items like soft-boiled eggs, poached eggs, or dishes like eggs Benedict should be avoided all together.

I have two poached eggs on avocado toast every other morning. Eggs are pasture-raised organic Happy Eggs and toast is wheat-free seed bread with avocados spread on top, heated for one minute in the microwave. Trader Joe’s Sweet Chili Sauce is delish on top.

Every other morning, it’s wheat-free organic non-GMO Panda Puffs with ground walnuts on them and sugar-free almond milk on top. Almond milk has more calcium than cow’s milk. And walnuts kill cancer cells, which we all have in our bodies.

Why no wheat? Read “Wheat Belly” by Wm Davis, MD. Modern wheat is altered so much that it sux. Causes rise in cholesterol. Dumped wheat and two months later, my cholesterol was perfect. No statins for me.

So easy to stay healthy in the most enjoyable way.

If you buy it in a store, it’s pasteurized. If you want to make it yourself, you can pasteurize your eggs at home or buy pasteurized ones in the store.

That sounds pretty good. I make avocado toast with Ezekiel bread quite often. I’ve never had Happy Eggs. Always looking for improvements.

Eggs lose quality rapidly at room temperature which is why I was glad that California passed a law around 1996/7? that the stores have to refrigerate them.

We still talk about that night! Personally, I gave up the concept of gorging on a dare or a contest...

When I was in the USN down at Cecil Field in Florida, three of us went out to a restaurant that had all-you-can-eat shrimp and got into an eating contest.

I don’t remember if I won or lost, but I remembered laying in the bed of that little Datsun pickup as we drove back to the base, groaning in agony.

For years, I could not look at shrimp again, and it grieved me, because I sure did love shrimp. I just could not eat it.

Fortunately, after about 20 years, I regained my taste for it, but it sure did teach me a lesson.

Better yet, where possible buy your food directly from a reputable farmer.

That’s ideal, but it isn’t available to everyone.

You can pasteurize eggs sous vide or insta pot, and not change their raw egg attributes. I used to buy Davidson’s Pasteurized Safe-t-Eggs, but my local grocery stores no longer carry them.

Yes, I’ve seen instructions for pasteurizing at home.

Our stores never seem to sell pasteurized eggs anymore, either.

On the weekday mornings I cook it is eggs, (from our chickens) sausage (from our pigs) and your choice of apples (from our trees) or a pear (also from our trees) and milk (from our cows). Coffee and tea for the over 16 crowd.

I really don't worry about brands.

I see them often here in North Texas, mostly Indians.

3 years ago, my grandson started 5th grade as the only student at his school not wearing a mask. Wasn’t long before his classmates ditched their masks.

His Opa (me) beat Covid with HCQ and ivermectin. No jabs in our family, except for my oldest son. His wife, a medical “professional” was jabbed while pregnant. Within a few weeks, my granddaughter was born 13 weeks premature. It’s a very sore topic with my wife and I.

Fortunately, they’re divorcing.
