This listing is for a vintage paper advertisement. This is a 1995 ad for a TIAA-CREF Retirement! The size of the ad is approximately 8.5x11inches. The caption for this ad is 'They say in thirty years a burger & fries could cost $16, a vacation $12,500, and a basic car $65,000' The ad is in great condition. This vintage ad would look great framed and displayed! Add it to your collection today!

Dad had a small retirement annuity from tiaa-creff, which mom now receives.
My husband works for TIAA. (They dropped the -CREF).
A basic car doesn’t cost $65,000. We just took our youth and some adult children and a random friend of Drama Queen’s and had our son-in-law’s parents for a night at a VRBO house in the mountains, and the whole week for everyone didn’t cost anything like $12,500. The house was in the $2000s.
But yeah, you can spend $16 if you go out for a burger and fries. Wages are up. I always say, “We have food at home.”
Family of 4 at Disney could cost you 12,500 for a week. Probably more.
I wouldn’t do that. I don’t see why anyone would, but that’s their business. We can rent a house at the beach or in the mountains and spend a week with way more than 4 people for a lot less.
Of course, a vacation *can* cost $12,500. A vacation *can* cost $50,000. But it doesn’t have to, even if you stay in a nice house instead of tents.
My dad was vey frugal. We went to Disney World from Michigan and camped all the way except in anaheim. 2 days in 1965. The Watts riots were very exciting. haha.
I went to Disneyland once in the early 70s. We lived in San Diego then. Sea World was much better, and so was the San Diego Zoo.
They hit the nail on the head!
Everything is exactly correct..................
i remember this ad. I may have it somewhere. As a kid, I had a feeling it would be true eventually.
