When one lives in the woods.

The black and brown furry kind can get uppity if you find one in your trash.

Re “… somehow the gun went off…”

Probably because “somehow” he had his finger inside the trigger guard… my guess is that he was carrying it in his hand along with the trash bags

I never go anywhere without a firearm on my hip, and it is usually holstered. That includes taking out the trash, mowing the lawn and the yard…

At least he died doing what he loved. ;)

I’m going to guess that Raccoons were somehow involved. They never seem to suspect the Raccoons.

Think of it as dropping a sharp knife. You don’t want to try to catch it.

Quote from the 'Gun Goddess" who warns of sympathetic grip,

While it sounds easy to do, “finger discipline” may be one of the more difficult safety rules to make a habit. Your fingers and thumb are meant to work together to grasp something. When your other three fingers grasp the grip of your firearm, your trigger finger wants to grasp something too. You might hear this referred to as sympathetic grip or sympathetic muscle reaction. The only place there is room to grasp is inside the trigger guard. So you have to learn not to grasp with that finger, but rather, to leave it extended. When learning this skill, you will have to pay close attention at first. After much practice, it will become more natural. In fact, you will notice that you begin to extend that index finger all the time, such as when you use a bottle of spray cleaner!

I never thought about the spray bottle, but it’s true now that I think about it.

Did he get hit by a bullet or, maybe it was from shrapnel?

To: Does so

Had a friend and co-worker who did this to himself, he was drunk, it was about 2 am and he went outside to shoot an ally cat.
He took a 22 caliber pistol outside to shoot the cat and stumbled on the porch steps.
Drunk + shot he passed out and lay there and bled out.
Nobody heard the shot so nobody found him until the next morning.

Rest in peace Ray “aka Snake” Dixon

LOL!

As you know, I raise Treeing Walker Coon Hounds for fun and little profit. I’ve got SIX of them running loose right now; they’re closing in on 15 weeks.

All are GORGEOUS, marked PERFECTLY (to UKC Standards) and have their own distinct personalities. 2 males, 4 females. We’re keeping the males, but it’s going to be HARD to part with the four females.
