Over the past few years, there have been a couple different big screen projects with ties to the Looney Tunes in development. At one time the iconic animated characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and more were going to get rebooted in an animated Looney Tunes feature. A couple years later, some kind of spin-off was in the works called Acme with Steve Carell attached. But we haven't heard anything about those projects since they were announced.
Now it looks like Warner Bros. has turned their attention back to bringing individual characters to the big screen. They're going to start with Speedy Gonzalez, the fastest mouse in all of Mexico, and they've already got someone lined up to voice the little rodent.

I know from 8 years ago, and it never happened, Speedy was canceled by Ted Turner, and get mad at me, he always got the best of the black cat, Sylvester.
What would Speedy be today, "Sheedy Gonzales".
Speedy will show how fast he can illegally run across the southern border.
arriba, arriba … andale, andale
no doubt there’s a “normalizing,” political element to this; at least according to Mockingbird Theory.
I hope it will feature an innocent story, in the tradition of the series. And not some woke tale about Speedy leading a migrant caravan of mice past Border Patrol cats.
WEll that’s a quandry. Do you get an ethnic hispanic to voice the character or is that too racist? Or get a white guy to do it which of course is also racist.
Meep-meep.
The sombrero will be replaced with a flat front baseball cap and he’ll speak with a New York accent. But otherwise, he’ll be the same old Tad Gonzales he’s always been.
I would have thought the whole thing would be considered ‘racist’.
They’ll make Speedy BIPOC, a Neo-marxist fighting for rights of some innocent children, and his nemesis will be an old angry white guy
I’ll bet $100 on it.
Is Speedy no longer offensive?
From Google.........
Why was Speedy Gonzales banned?
In 1999, Speedy Gonzales was banned from the Cartoon Network after it decided the cartoon was too offensive and reinforced negative Mexican stereotypes like speaking in a heavy accent and wearing a sombrero. The network reinstated him three years later after fan outrage.Mar 9, 2021
What about Slowpoke?
Based on what I saw at the Super Bowl yesterday, it’ll have to Speedy LaQuisha.
He's headed for the border.
¡El Reconquistador Speedy!
That’s probably the take.
At his size and speed, Speedy can quickly deliver 10s of thousands of fatal Fentanyl doses across the border, easily evading the evil Border Patrol and DEA!
“They’re going to start with Speedy Gonzalez, the fastest mouse in all of Mexico, and they’ve already got someone lined up to voice the little rodent.”
My bet is Gabriel Inglesias. Does a fantastic imitation of Speedy and he is the right person based on his nationality.
