A Maryland judge was killed in an apparent shooting at his home Thursday evening in what police described as a homicide.
Judge Andrew Wilkinson, 52, had served as an associate circuit court judge in Washington County since 2020.
He was found in the driveway of his home in the western Maryland city of Hagerstown around 8 p.m. after local police responded to a shooting on Olde Waterford Road.
Wilkinson was hospitalized but later pronounced dead, according to the county sheriff's office.
A state delegate said that police are still searching for the suspect, who has not yet been named. A motive for the shooting has not been released.
'Horrible news in Washington County tonight,' Neil Parrott, who represents Washington County, wrote on X.
'It appears that Judge Andrew Wilkinson was shot multiple times and has passed away. Police are actively searching for the murderer.'
'Please pray for our police and for Judge Wilkinson's family at this time.'
The Washington County Sheriff's Office has not released any further details about Wilkinson's killing.
'We are a courthouse of six judges,' Administrative Judge Brett R. Wilson, a colleague, told the New York Times. 'We all know each other very well.'
Born in Guam in 1971, he previously served as an assistant county attorney in Washington County from 2006 to 2012.
He also served as a member of the State Board of Law Examiners' Character Committee from 2006 to 2019.

I wouldn’t exactly call Hagerstown “western” Maryland, although it might seem so to some Washington/Baltimore rugrat who never goes farther than the local Starbucks.
I remember reading a book that had a chapter talking about the climate in the Russian Empire before 1917. political assassinations’ and of govt officials was alarmingly high in those raucous days.
I remember the author clearly talking about a conversation with a ukranian peasant who killed the communist nachalchik (official) who basically seized his familys farm. both his parents died from broken hearts afterwards so he killed the official at train station when he was about to depart and dumped his body in the forest. they found him in the spring all chewed up from the rats and other creatures looking for a winter bite.
the ukranian was sent to siberia and was only let out during ww2 to serve in slave-labor train building battalions
That’s Salamander’s neighborhood.
As a judge I’m sure he has an extensive list of suspects.
They’ll blame it on MAGA
According to local media, alleged murderer was unhappy about ruling made at Maryland courthouse by Wilkinson earlier that week but nothing confirmed yet.
How is it they have a suspect who cannot be named or physically identified ?
Since his political affiliation is not mentioned I assume democRat. Lack of political identification demonstrates the news writers political tendencies of “... of course he was a democRat, isn’t everybody?”
Still sad that in Xiden’s USA these days one cannot be safe around one’s own home.
Close enough. :-)
Just north, on I70, you pick up I68W. Is that where Western MD begins? I drive up through that way when visiting the parental units in West PA. Where does Western MD start?
Divorce court?
A Hogan appointee.... worked in private practice. Could have been a Pubbie. Custody judgement....see above posted link.
The assailant reportedly lost custody of his children earlier today as Judge Wilkinson presided over the case.
I wonder if there is more to the story. New Jersey has seen some conservative politicians assassinated.(I think one young lady’s case is still unsolved)
I’ve been fearing a time of targeted killings as the elites try to bring America down.
What did he know about Hillary!™?
I'd have said Hancock.
Well I guess I could just be hopeful that the purge has begun. There are many more judges that need this attention to detail to ensure they are muted in their corrupt idealism.
She would have used a snake...
Nah...a machette.
