Roughly $100 million dollars worth of duct tape is bought annually, more than enough to stretch to the moon, or circle the earth at the equator 12 times.

There is also military grade 100 mph tape.

Olive drab, of course, called "ordnance tape".

LOL!

Years back, there was an early 60s Chevy, as I recall, that someone modified by lifting off the body, rotating it 180 degrees, and bolting it back onto the frame. He did everything necessary to make it street legal (lights, wipers, etc.) and started driving it.

He had to abandon the project as he got stopped too many times by the police. People panicked when they saw what they thought was a car driving backwards.

Cops have no sense of humor.

Years back we wanted to go out on a friend’s boat and he said he couldn’t put it in the water because there were 7 rivets missing in various spots and it leaked to bad!!

For more permanent maritime repairs a combination of Duct Tape, JB Kwikweld, and superglue with baking soda and/or a spray on activator is sometimes required.

Years back, there was an early 60s Chevy, as I recall, that someone modified by lifting off the body, rotating it 180 degrees, and bolting it back onto the frame.

My wife and I had a “1941 Cadillac” resto-mod car. The guy did lots of normal restorations and ended up with a 1941 body that was in great shape and a 1977 Eldorado that had a rough body but very good engine and running gear.

He modified the frame of the Eldorado and bolted the body of the 1941 Cadillac on top of it. The interior and exterior were completely restored. He did a marvelous job and few people had any idea what it actually was unless I opened the hood and showed them. It drove great and looked incredible. We bought it on eBay and drove it 2000 miles back home from Indiana. When I sold it to a collector in Michigan a few years later to help finance an all original 42 Cadillac restoration... we drove it 2000 miles back to the buyer in Michigan. It rode like a dream and cruised 100 mph all through Montana.

We stopped by a place in Evanston Wyoming where an old guy specialized in similar resto-mod creations. Only he replaced the original style interiors with modern interiors, so they looked like a vintage car on the outside and a new car on the inside. He is gone now but the Evanston car show is still one of the best.

Sorry it was actually Gillette Wyoming where the old man who was the master of resto-mod restorations lived. He was absolutely amazing and people bought his creations from all over the world.

I knew an old guy (now deceased) who drove around in an unrestored ‘41 Cadillac coupe. You always knew he was coming as it had a musical horn that played Dixie. I wonder what happened to the car?

Duct tape is actually the Force. It has a dark side and a light side, and it holds the universe together.

We really regret selling the 41 Cadillac resto-mod. It was a hit everywhere we took it. Ours was painted managua beige metallic and the interior was new light tan mohair. The attached brochure here does not do either the interior or exterior colors justice. But you get the picture. It was amazing and looked like new. The only issue was that locktite was not used on the body and after the 10,000 or so miles we put on it... it was starting to rattle a little bit.

I go through a lot of super (cyanoacrylate) glue and activator. The "thick" viscosity is my favorite all around, but thin works best with baking soda.

It is amazing to me that most of the repairs that I have made with JB Weld products have lasted as long as legitimate repairs. I used to use nickel rod with an arc welder for most cast iron repairs, but most of the time if you stop drill and V out a crack in an area that is not under much stress JB Weld takes care of it just about as well. It is my preferred "temporary" repair method for old blocks that have cracks from people not using anti-freeze.

I can only imagine the surprise of other drivers while being passed by your Caddy at 100 mph!
