Vote for Vivek Ramaswamy if you want that caste system on steroids in America.
For those of us sight challenged
“Gods” .....plural......bad juju. 👎
Our inauthentic “black” Vice President had a mother from a high caste in India, and her father’s lineage were slave traders from Jamaica. She grew up in liberal Canada. But she’s been sold to us as an authentic “down wid duh shtrugga” African-American. She is part of the upper caste of Democrat operatives.
The caste system was set up when the Indo-Iranians (formerly called Aryans) moved into India and took over from the Dravidian population that was there already. As the new ruling class, the Indo-Iranians reserved the top three castes for themselves, while making their subjects either Shudras or untouchables.
Agreed. I will never support an indian no matter what their political viewpoint is...or so they say in public.
You will find that Brahmins are not on top.
It’s way more accurate to say that the top three or four castes are well represented in the output of IIT. I suggest a deep dive into that question.
And the guys actually calling the shots are almost always caste 3, the Vaishyas. Or even non-Hindus, as I pointed out in re H1b.
Another reason to like the Sikhs, who reject this nonsense.
Two Indian doctors (both cardiologists) lived across the street from me. Best friends, they built their 10,000 sq Ft houses at the same time. They even built their driveways in a way to allow shared parking for their big parties.
Both retired and one moved to Orlando.
A new family that bought the house was also Indian. As soon as they bought it the remaining doctor had the parking pad destroyed.
I asked him a year after the new family moved in if he liked them. He replied basically, “They are not people that I would care to know.”
I asked another Indian doctor what he meant and he replied that it was a caste thing.
Amazing that that system stays intact even here in the US.
Has Ramaswampy renounced his old country heritage advantage of being a Brahmin caste member yet?
Has he come to saving faith in Christ?
Has he chosen a Judeo/Christian world view in line with our constitution, declaration, and bill of rights?
If not, why??
Indians represent 1.35% of the US population.
They are not introducing any caste systems in the US. I’ve seen Indian managers try to pull that “better than you” garbage in front of people. They were literally laughed out of the building.
Not liking Vivek is fine. Suggesting he wants to segment the population more than it is, is just wrong.
This BBC article was written 4 years ago and you’re posting it now? I saw the articles you posted yesterday and I figured it was just the nonsense formerly aimed at DeSantis now being targeted at Vivek, since DeSantis’ campaign doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, but it looks more like you’ve just got something up your backside about Indians. My mistake.
The more fair the skin, the greater the worth.
They self-segregated by skin tone!
Wonder what caste the Thugs were?
Right now I have 2 Indian specialists, a Paki primary, and Egyptian dentist. All just fine.
Another article on India’s caste system?
Why the obsession with India’s caste system?
We essentially have it here, too and have for many years.
“Brabmin Indians have taken over the IT field and are close to taking over the medical field.”
Yes, and even politics, now. But what’s behind it?
Brahmins have one of the highest group average IQs in the world and they are at the top of the caste system.
So the caste system is essentially a stratification based on intelligence.
It differs from the western version of the class system in that it is more rigid. Harder to escape your caste.
In the US we also have a class system, but it’s very fluid and not discrete and not socially defined or enforced. Ambitious, intelligent, hard working people still occupy the higher rungs of society.
So, here in the west, the stratification is mainly a statistical construct and not strictly tied to your origins. But to the extent that human traits such as IQ, ambition, honesty, etc are genetically based (which to a significant degree they are), then your origins (family) may determine the strata you end up in. But it’s not dictated by society.
Each individual can occupy any of those statistical strata (the “super rich” , the “upper class” , the “middle class” , the “poor” - these are all statistical constructs) at various times in his life depending on your performance.
So we have stratification in the west, but rather than society forcing you to be in a particular stratum based on your origins, you have a certain amount of control over where you end up based on how well you apply your inborn abilities.
An interesting side note is that in “Brave New World” the caste system was genetically engineering. So you had the Alphas, The Betas, etc. each caste designed to play a particular role in society and everyone in a particular caste was designed to be very happy there and to not want to be part of any other caste. So basically they eradicated envy which made for a very peaceful society.
(My stream of conscienceness thoughts, FWIW)
Nothing more than skin complexion.
Some say the caste system would have disappeared by now if the fires were not regularly fanned by politicians.
At elections, many caste groups still vote as a block and are wooed by politicians looking for electoral gains.
As a result, what was originally meant to be a temporary affirmative action plan to improve the lot of the unprivileged groups has now become a vote-grabbing exercise for many politicians.
A reminder that one of the unique aspects of the American Experiment WAS the ability to move up and down the social economic ladder.
Count on BBC to twist everything beyond recognition for propaganda - for example, varnas and castes are two different things. Brahmins(intellectuals), Kshatriyas(warriors), Vaishyas(entrepreneurs) and Shudras(working class) are broader classifications called Varnas and not castes. Any civilization would need those 4 elements to survive and grow. India remains a civilization under seige - under Islamic and British colonial aggression, that has placed native institutions in a hardened and self-defensive postures.
