First time in 70 years I am experiencing no fireworks on July 4 in America. This is Tampa, FL. It is very quiet.

If you don't know what you are celebrating, why make any noise about it?

As a kid, Bayshore would be packed as they shot off fireworks over McKay Bay.
What happened?

We used to go to Madeira Beach very near John’s Pass every year at this time, mid 1990’s to about 2010. Had a great fireworks show where we pitched in money, and some family or families always did it up right. Last time we were there was 2015, and they changed everything. Not quite the same, so we stopped going there for our beach vacation. Now we go to the Panhandle closer to September. Those sure were fun times! Miss them!

Why is it sad? You’re lucky that it’s quiet.
Sadly, one family in our neighborhood was selfish enough to make a ton of noise. I had to comfort my dogs.
Besides, there’s absolutely nothing to celebrate this year.

Why are there no fireworks on the 4th of July in Tampa tonight? They're all over the leftist northeast, including here in The People's Republik of Connecticut. Many fireworks events were postponed (and rescheduled) due to all the rain and thunderstorms we've been getting, but they're still going on in a few days.
Weather cleared up beautifully in my area around dinnertime... lots of neighborhood guys set off a bunch of loud fireworks as usual. It's the same every 4th of July here.

Did the show end up going on? I know there's lots of rain and T-storms all over the eastern seaboard today and fireworks shows have been canceled and/or rescheduled.
Sounds like a nice event there in Segra Park. Is that a safe area?
We will be living in SC full-time in a few months (but down near Hilton Head in Bluffton). We passed by Segra Park during one of our trips between CT and SC - we were wondering what it was.

I’m in Bend this year visiting family. Lots of booming going on, but we’ve had a big day on Elk Lake and are too pooped (and maybe a little sunburned) to go see what’s out there. Our kids have sent videos they took, though.

I’m not so sure that Bend continues to qualify as a ‘red’ part of the state.
Had I the luxury of taking the week off, I’d have definitely planned a travel trip to friendly destination for a memorable 4th.
Someday, perhaps...

I don’t think it’s red from what I can see. Definitely blue, but for some reason, I heard blasts going into the wee hours.
At Elk Lake, we actually heard some nearby campers singing the National Anthem though, acapella. We woohooed them at the end!

The ‘wee hours’ booms you heard were certainly the deep red rednecks (after this weekend, I’m sure I fit the literal definition).
But here, last night was the quietest 4th in rural county than I’ve heard in 20 years.
Shameful, but representative of the actual cultural landscape imho. I was certainly in no state of mind to celebrate...
