A man is in custody following the fatal stabbing of a Canadian father who reportedly asked the suspect to not vape in front of his three-year-old daughter, authorities say.
Inderdeep Singh Gosal, 32, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the broad-daylight stabbing of 37-year-old Paul Stanley Schmidt outside of a Vancouver Starbucks on March 27, Global News reported. The graphic incident, which was shared on social media, was witnessed by multiple bystanders who looked on as Schmidt fell to the ground bleeding.
Vancouver police apprehended the suspect after witnesses detained him. Schmidt received first aid and was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died, First Post reported.
Schmidt was reportedly standing outside the Starbucks with his three-year-old daughter while his fiancée Ashley Umali was getting drinks inside. The “devoted” father reportedly requested Gosal stop vaping near his daughter, who was in a stroller, when he was fatally stabbed, according to The Vancouver Sun.
“It all started because he was vaping beside the baby. Ashley’s in shock, she watched the whole thing. She’s so devastated,” the victim’s mother, Kathy Schmidt, told the outlet. “He was just trying to protect his daughter. I’m angry and I’m sad,” she continued.
Video of the graphic stabbing was widely shared on social media, further upsetting Schmidt’s loved ones who pleaded for people to not watch or repost the “incredibly traumatizing” footage. “Someone took my brother’s life yesterday and another person filmed it (do NOT watch) instead of calling the police, and worse off, posted it on social media very clearly for views,” Jessica Foxx Foto stated, according to the outlet.
Vancouver’s mayor, Ken Sim expressed his horror over the stabbing, tweeting, “This is an awful and tragic story to hear about. Nobody should ever feel unsafe walking around out city. Our hearts go out to Mr Schmidt and his family.
*What* was he vaping?
Sorry to say, I saw it, too, only because it popped up in my news feed. Yes, it was brutal.
Ain’t diversitah grand?
“ The guy should have just moved the stroller. ”
Can’t really argue with that! The dad was probably more “devoted” to being a thorn in the side of anyone who does anything like lighting up a smoke in public, even if its just water valor. Its all about a male Karen trying to keep someone else from doing something they enjoy. I would not be surprised to find out the “devoted” dad parked the stroller there for the specific purpose of using it to somehow validate his complaint.

When we were all from the same culture you knew what you could and couldn’t do under almost any circumstance. But since we are now surrounded by people who could be from any culture on Earth, we no longer have a universal set of behavioral standards. In addition, our own societal rules are being actively broken down by LGBT idiocy and environmental craziness. Western civilization, which has been more or less homogenous for a century or more has disintegrated. It is no longer safe to interact with strangers.
i have to applaud your unabashed usage of the dreaded f bomb around these parts.
I expect this will be pulled by a Karen moderator.
Coldhearted - the killer stabbed the man repeatedly and then put his knife away and walked casually back into Starbucks.
Agreed. Move the stroller instead of being an entitled jackass.

Pakistani? Maybe if you worked on keeping certain dangerous foreigners OUT of your country, things like this wouldn’t happen, Mr. Mayor.
But, America is a ticking time bomb these days too. Enemies within and without. :(
RE: “Khalistani movement”
Oh, great, yet another terrorist group.
And they are here in the U.S., too, though supposedly a tiny minority.

Probably less of an ethnic-religious aspect and more of an ongoing street disorder aspect given that it’s downtown Vancouver where street disorder (in some parts at least) has reached epidemic proportions. Just to provide a bit of context, the mayor is newly elected and replaces one of those do-nothing lefty mayors that are a widespread phenomenon on the left coast. This new mayor has made some statements about a desire to clean up the huge mess in downtown Vancouver but has only just begun his term, with a supportive new council elected along with him. Provincial politicians are also making statements, and there was a change of leadership although the same political party.
It’s a long-term problem that so far has seen very little action, basically the intersection of drugs, homelessness and mental illness. Not sure if this killer is actually from that background or was just a first-time over-reacter, but the daily news from Vancouver is basically today’s version of drug overdose acting out in bizarre fashion followed by ordinary citizens stating it is getting out of control, something you could have heard twenty years ago.
People learn pretty fast in these lefty cities not to address strangers without first checking the relative levels of self-protection. Other prominent “incidents” include such delights as completely unprovoked stranger assaults and wild sprees of destruction in downtown stores and cafes. It’s all side by side with quite a prosperous and busy downtown, and spilling in from the completely dysfunctional area that is known locally as the downtown east side, a scene of mass homeless disorder and chaos. The fact that it directly affects Chinatown and the mayor being of Chinese background may mean that action will actually take place but as the problem has been left unaddressed for years or decades, choices are going to take time and money. As in a lot of countries, the collapse of the mental hospital approach and a rash of bad drugs on the street are the underlying causes of this violence. Radical leftist ideology giving such people fictitious “rights” is not helping.
Ask a surgeon: “Which is more lethal? A knife or a bullet?”
That was his first mistake.
I wonder what he had thought of all the vehicle exhaust he was exposing his daughter to.
The guy was VAPING, NOT RAPING! Sometimes you have to mind your own business and move along!
Also, why didnt he marry the baby mama?
