The rural churches where I grew up would have ice cream socials scattered through the summer, and us kids taking shifts at cranking.

That’s funny, not a big gizzard fan but the best fried chicken I ever had, besides Strouds in Kansas City Kansas and Moms was a gas station in Van Horn Texas. They had a sign out front that read “Diesel” fried chicken. Of course they meant truckers could fill up and get some good grub. Best fried bird ever, cooked in pressure fryers, delicious.

Same here. You can’t beat they’re dirty rice and mashed potatoes. Hell, it’s all good.

I’ve never had Chick Fil A as there isn’t one anywhere near us. I think the closest one is about an hour away. I like Red Robin but it’s an hour away too, as are most of the other popular chain restaurants. We have an Applebee’s, Moe’s, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell, and Arby’s. Once in a blue moon I’ll go to Moe’s, and rarely go to any of the others. This weekend I’m heading to Troy to visit my oldest son. We’re going to Outback Steak House Saturday night. The Outback that was a half-hour away went out of business about 8 years ago. I’d gone there one week to order take-out, and the next week when I went it was closed.
I like Popeye's nuggets and their blackened ranch dip. That's all I get from them. I don't care for their fries. Tried a side of their Mac & cheese, but I can make it better from scratch at home. I've had acid reflux for almost 50 years, and take two pills a day for it. I have to be careful not to eat Popeye's after 6 or 7 at night, or it can come back to haunt me. I don't have that problem with KFC. Once in a while I'll buy KFC tenders, cut them up, put buffalo wing sauce on them, and toss them into a salad with blue cheese dressing, and tortilla strips on top. Yummy!!
My youngest son likes Popeye's spicy 8 piece chicken meal. I'm more of a boneless chicken person. I used to fry chicken in a cast iron frying pan years ago, but haven't done it in a long time. About the only thing I cook in oil these days is stir fry meat and vegetables in my electric wok. One of the best purchases I ever made.
A Bloomin Onion, some of their Brown Bread, a steak and a tall Sam Adams!!
Broasted chicken is the only way to fly
I have no appetite for anything deep fried with thick breading. Yuck!

#15 Two Mexican ladies working, very nice. I got a breast and a thigh, regular not spicy. The breast was great but the thigh was inedible.

I don’t like Popeye’s. The sandwichs are OK. The lobby and rest rooms are always dirty with litter and the counter staff indifferent (I’m white).
If it is a chicken sandwich I’m going for, I much prefer the taste and value of KFC’s.
