Yes.
Time to remember the civil rights icon Jesse Jackson....

“Jesse Jackson admitted in a November, 1969 “Life” magazine interview that when he worked as a waiter in a Greenville, South Carolina hotel he spat into the soups and salads of White customers. “Spitting into the food]gave me a psychological gratification,” Jackson said. During his early years in the civil rights movement Jackson often repeated this story to audiences. In fact the New York “Times” in a July, 1972 article, said: “Jesse would spit into their soup or salad before he brought it to the table, and watch with enjoyment as Whites ate gobs of saliva as though it were, say, oil and vinegar dressing.”

A memory of the earlier Civil War (1860s)
from a Walt Whitman civil War poem

How Solemn As One By One

. . . . and to you,
I see behind each mask that wonder a kindred soul,
. O the bullet could never kill what you really are, dear friend,
. Nor the bayonet stab what you really are;
The soul! yourself I see, great as any, good as the best,
Waiting secure and content, which the bullet could never kill,
. Nor the bayonet stab O friend.
-—Walt Whitman

Comment from Fourteen Lines site ————
Whitman’s path to care-giving for Union soldiers began in December of 1862, when he left Brooklyn to search for his brother, George, whom he feared was injured in the Battle of Fredericksburg.

Whitman did not find his brother in Washington, so he traveled on to Virginia, where he was relieved to find his brother only slightly wounded, at the Union army camp at Falmouth. Whitman was deeply affected by what he witnessed at the front lines and decided to support the Union cause the only way he knew how, by moving to Washington to care for sick and wounded soldiers.

For the remainder of the war, he visited patients daily in hospitals located throughout the city. Whitman spent his days listening to soldiers stories, writing letters for them to family members, bringing them little gifts such as fresh oranges and licorice candy, but most important he was present at their bedside when friends and family could not be.

(Strouds)

Great restaurant. I know the owner but haven’t talked to him in several years.

I’ve been meaning to take a trip there and eat at his establishment again.

Knew him, that is.

I just checked. He passed away just before I took a job that would be working me 6-7 days a week.

Very often we pretentiously misinterpret what is actually happening because of or bias and tendency to think emotionally and self centered.

It is very possible that the employee reaction could have had nothing to do with you, or race, or even Popeyes

The chain of chicken restaurants was definitely lucrative for Al Copeland. For a guy with humble beginnings, he sure got into some expensive hobbies...

There’s no attitude at Publix. They’re my go-to for fried chicken.

I recently became aware of a Joella’s not too far away. I need to try them.

Popeye’s chicken sucks. I took my grandson there couple of weeks back and we both thought it sucked. There wasn’t anyone there an lunch time, should have been a dead giveaway. Biscuits were good though.

It’s the one Anna Nicole Smith worked at many years and bra sizes ago.

Great breasts and thighs...

I went to Popeyes this evening for a 2 piece and a pepper. They wouldn't look at me an wanted me gone, this is a white part of town. What's up with that?

What we think we see isn't always the case. Do you also find that the cute young workers always want to be with you?

Get a nuwave oven (basically its an air fryer)

Toss a chicken in, cover it with salt and/or poultry spices, and you’re good.

I think Popeye’s air-fries its fried chicken. I prefer the old-fashioned way.

Employees are super-polite at my neighborhood one, though. More so than most places.

My advice is to learn to make your damn chicken. :)

The problem with making your own fried chicken was having to immerse it in oil, which was not practical for small batches.

Now you can put it in an air dryer instead.

I’d probably choose the air dryer or do a large batch in oil and then freeze the unused.

Or pig out on a Saturday night, when I ain’t got nobody but I’ve got some money because I just got paid.

Yes!

Some grocery store tenders are just as good.

I usually use thousand island, add some sliced spanish olives and go for it.

We live in south western Pa and our little town just got a Popeye’s. Friends I have talked to who lived down south - mostly Florida - gave mixed opinions. Mostly “ok, but not impressed”. We will be going there soon.

I’ve also experienced this anti-whiteism phenomenon out in public.
