To note that the latest Disney/Marvel Studios woke Phase Four installment, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is a waste of time, is an insult to wastes of time.
This tiresome flick aspires to be a waste of time.
Disney/Marvel had a decision to make when the actor who originally played the Black Panther — the likable but mediocre Chadwick Boseman — died in real life: Either drop the BP franchise entirely, or bull ahead with a politically-correct sequel, composed of forgettable secondary characters from the first film. Guess which way they went.
There’s a lot of furious fighting between black- and brown-skinned (or is it blue? Who cares?) warriors. Sticks figure prominently in these battles, how exciting.
Not even the introduction of new Marvel character Namor the Sub-Mariner helps. Disney/Marvel tweaked the character to have Mayan/Aztec/Incan pre-Colombian roots, which I suppose is a sop to that racial group.
An hour + into this turkey and I was looking longingly at the exit doors. Of my own home.
There are no spoiler warnings here, and no plot spoilers, as spoilers imply some level of interest in the movie’s plot.
Not even the one mid-end-credits vignette, where hints of coming developments in future Marvel films are usually aired, is worthwhile. Just another yawn in a long series of yawns. Wak-yawn-da Forever.
You’ve got better things to waste your time on — like trying to catch your right thumb with your right hand — than watching this movie.
Oh, p’shaw. But thank you!
Did you lose a bet? Is that why you watched this?
Maybe you were spending quality time with the children/grandchildren? I know I’ve suffered through mindless Disney crap on behalf of my little ones.
Maybe you’re just a masochist?
I don’t.
Cheers, ‘Pod
Hmmm, they name an award show for radios and movies after a poem about Cowboys by a man who died before radio or television or movies even existed. Makes sense to me.
And it was a sad thing they did with it.
The last Disney animated feature I saw was either Cinderella, Pinnochio or maybe Dumbo. The modern “animated” computer drek is so drekky that I can’t even stomach the drek for an instant.
LOL
Wouldn’t happen here: A gorgeous redhead couldn’t get me to watch a disney film.
Never again.
Walked out feeling like we had seen a movie.
And isn't it sad that now that is all it takes to make you happy? I just want to watch something with my husband on our monthly night out that does not leave me sad or angry.
I will take "just ok" or mildly amusing.
A plot that hangs together and something that does not insult or preach at us.
Who intentionally watches Disney movies anymore?
They should come with a barf warning they’re so bad.
The title of the movie turned me off. Won’t be watching it. Been watching the National Treasure series.
Good series, wish they would do another one.
Aw shucks. I was looking forward to a film with a spear carrying angry bald black female. Ok, I’ll take the advice and pass.
Universal has the distribution rights to The Hulk and Namor. This is why there is no solo films from both. Disney isn’t gonna make a film.
So if a mythological place like this existed it appears these blacks have to have an ethical and moral responsibility to African blacks who they essentially left to their own ways. These blacks didn’t do a darn thing for the mythological black community in America. They become uppity of their race.
My condolences on those 2+ hours devoured by the aether.
As restitution (punishment?) you can console the ache with the patented coffee.
(As per agreement, any time I mention my coffee, I must ping Nully and Slings)
Loat bet, duct taped to a chair, the possibilities are numerous.
Anything we can suggest to help heal this probably would help.
But not ideas from me as I am a fountain of bad ideas.
This is a great line.
I enjoyed your review. Thank you!
