I went ballistic when I first saw this.
The “NFL is rigged” conversation has been happening for years now, but with how things went down in the Jan. 29 AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals (specifically with the officiating), the talks have ratcheted up.
And now, former Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins running back Arian Foster is getting involved, throwing some fuel into the fire with one statement: “The league is scripted.”
Speaking on his “Macrodosing” podcast with PFT Commenter, Foster elaborated on an off-air comment alleging that NFL players receive a script.
“We were really dedicated to [the NFL’s script],” said Foster. “So, it was more, like, that’s what practice was about, practicing the script. This is what goes on. This is what we have to do … It’s like WWF, so we know what’s going to happen, but you still have to put on a show.”
This led to current Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey also claiming that “giving up 200 to Chase was just me following the script.”
When I first saw this clip — I won’t lie — I freaked out.
But when you look deeper into it and watch more of the podcast for context (which I did), it sounds like everything was just a big goof. And by the way, great marketing from these guys to use this clip to promote their show amid all of the ratcheted up “NFL is rigged” talk. PFT Commenter even brilliantly said, “can we clip just that part?”
And they did, hilariously without any context, and now it has everybody talking about their show. Just genius.

Like I said, genius marketing move and it’s hilarious.
But with all of that being said, I could totally believe the NFL is rigged, for the simple fact that my Miami Dolphins haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1974 — I can rock with that narrative.
And if it is scripted … NFL, can my Phins get at least ONE here in my time of being alive?

Yes.. I'm sure Joseph Ossai, a great former Texas Longhorn, had no intention of throwing the game. With all due respect to the players mentioned in the attached article, I've never believed players were involved in the fixing. Players can't keep secrets. And, they're proud... and competitive.
I think the games are fixed by the referees. It's REALLY easy. All they have to do is NOT call a few defensive holding calls, and make sure to call a few holding calls on the other team... they can control the outcome.

LOL Yes.. it is. But what good corporation doesn't look for way to MAXIMIZE profit? All they need are a handful of really terrible, unexpected upsets each week... to make sure they bust a lot of parlays and pull in a few suckers.
I've tried, for years... to figure out which ones are fixed each week. They do a good job of making it seem random. ;-)
It's hard to predict... But, I can often see it now, early in the 1st quarter, by the way the refs are calling it.

I think one of the reasons Aaron Rogers is so disgruntled is he KNOWS the score....he knows no matter what certain games are going to end a certain way....
I knew back in Sept/oct that the powers were going to elevate philly and their black qb.....you could just see the hype....

Why would the owners and players know? It would be certain players, or officials moving the game to a conclusion that fixes the game. Multi millionaire players, go broke all the time and need green. Rookies just starting out, then add into the mix that the majority of players are black and underpriviliged, likely raised by single moms. They have been exposed to crime and corruption since they was babes. Someone will be caught, it will be covered as a single incident, but players are doing it.
Roughing the punter? He was blocked, literally shoved into the punter. That changed the game. The catch at the 6 yard line that was trapped, changed the game. I turned it off, that was enough to know what the winds were blowing in.
For that matter, why was the game played in KC? It was planned for Atlanta, to fix the fact that KC and Cinci played a NC game. Cinci had beaten KC 3 straight times, they had the same number of losses. Neutral site was only fair, or better yet tell the boys to nut up and finish the game instead of going home crying about a playing being injured/heart attack on the field. FIX WAS IN THE FIX WAS IN
The methods of the Chiefs are illegal re blocking by receivers on passing plays. They practice “walling off defenders” and do it better than any other team. This should be called, but it isn’t. Far from making the game fun, it makes it like basketball, boring as hell. Go back to the rules of the 1970’s and get rid of this stupid modern era with one swipe of the screen. I hated Montana being creamed by the LB and wiping out his elbow. I loved the pace, the violence and the drama. Mahomes, Wilson and the other running QB’s couldn’t even start when the game was real, if they did they would last 3 seasons max.

A player for the Atlanta Falcons name Calvin Ridley was a Pro Bowl caliber WR, he was suspended for the last 2 years for gambling for a couple of thousand dollars.
Given how many people are on the field for games, makes it almost impossible to affect the outcome of a game, a QB could but they make on the average 30 million per year.
Officials could affect the outcome, but they are under constant scrutiny and reviewed every play of every game, if someone was trying to cheat it would be them, it would be extremely difficult.
The one area that could change the outcome of a game is injury information or gameplan information released to people before the game and that would be really hard to catch.
I think it was the first touchdown that would have been overruled but they hurried to get to the next play thus negating the ability to challenge it. Or it might have just been a particular play. I can’t remember. Announcers were talking about it after it happened.
I agree. I don’t think it should have been called. I am just pointing out it was a judgement call. That poor bastard was screwed no matter what he called. Either call is justifiable.

The RRK call was good I think. The block into rule wouldn’t apply as the contact was initiated by the defender not the offense. Additionally he took the plant leg which is absolutely roughing the kicker.
The call which should have never happened was the stopping the game for the clock error. And replaying the down. You have to let it go at that point. All of these calls were technically correct however poorly executed. The optics are pretty bad. The game could have been better presented by the officials
The worst call was the one NOT made. On the play they called Burrow for grounding,they should have called roughing the passer: Jones made no attempt to not land on the QB with his full body weight. I don’t really like that rule, but they’ve consistently called it, all year.
