A 56-year-old homeless Florida man was arrested Tuesday after attempting to set tents on fire and attacking a person with a metal grate.
Adrian Nelson Yarbrough, 56, Marathon, was charged with disorderly intoxication, battery, damage to property, attempted arson, and aggravated assault.
The Sheriff’s Office was called to 20th Street at approximately 11 p.m. regarding a man who was yelling at people, attempting to set tents on fire, and threatening to kill people.
The investigation found that Yarbrough got into an argument with several victims there. He poured water on their tents, telling them it was gasoline.
According to deputies, he ripped open one tent, sprayed disinfectant, and tried to light it with a lighter. Yarbrough hit one of the victims in the face with a metal grate. There were no serious injuries reported.

I can see why he’s homeless . . .
It’s alright. I’m sure they all have fire insurance.
If you just look at his picture, you would never guess this man had been acting in this way. He could be Mr. Drysdale, the stuffy Banker on Beverly Hillbillies. Physically, and as a first impression, he looks ‘awake’, not like some sleepwalker, drunk on booze or psyche meds. He greets you with a smile or maybe a smirk. Perhaps the mask of “Normalcy” is ripped off the moment somebody tells him ‘No!’.
I have an impression he wasn’t always like this. Something happened to him, and he allowed that incident to start a Bad News Dominoe effect. It can happen rather quickly if you live alone, or if no one has any strong influence over you.
attacking a person with a metal grate.
Ingrate
His mom: He's only 56 and still basically a good boy. Some folks develop people skills at a lower rate of speed, you know. I think we ought to look at things from his side.
There’s s giant tiki hut bar there. Fire would be bad.
He may be awake, but is he woke too?
Most fire codes these days require fire sprinklers under grass huts and other large dry vegetative decorations if they are near or inside buildings.
I think he looks manic. Yes, he was once good looking and personable, but drugs did him in. Probably more drugs than booze.
Now he’ll have three hots and a cot.
Oh, they probably keep the homeless and their camps out of sight.
LOL- thread winner!
oh look- Biden’s next senior Energy Department (DOE) official!
Florida man Florida man
Hates person man.🤪
I don’t think there’s anything on 20th but some commercial fishing lots. I live in Marathon and didn’t even know there was a homeless camp there. The bridge to Boot has been out for a long time so haven’t driven there in years.
I would think that if you didn’t bother too many people, the Keys would be pretty easy living for the homeless. I have no idea what law enforcement’s attitude toward them is.
