Ayear after moving to Bridge City, Texas, 8-year-old Samuel Kulovitz thought his life couldn’t get any worse. He had made no friends in the swampy oil refinery town and spent most of his time in his family’s mobile home. He missed Florida and playing on the beach there with other children.
But life did get worse. He hit puberty. For Kulovitz, who was assigned female at birth, “growing into being a young woman horrified me,” he said. “I kept crying and crying, and I didn’t know why I didn’t like it.”
Then, at age 11, Kulovitz started venturing onto social media. There, he came across a cosplayer on Tumblr who said he realized he was a transgender boy from the euphoria he felt while dressed as the hero of an online comic. Kulovitz was transfixed. “I kept asking myself, ‘Why do you want to look like him?’” he told Reuters. In the online community where Kulovitz spent more and more time, he adopted the pronouns “he” and “him,” and he liked it.
When his mother learned of his transgender identity, she was supportive and enrolled him in therapy. He was diagnosed at age 12 with gender dysphoria, the distress that comes from identifying as a gender different from the one assigned at birth.
Two and a half years later, Kulovitz started on the hormone testosterone. He was thrilled as he grew facial and chest hair, his voice dropped, and his menstrual periods stopped.
Still, his breasts were a constant source of distress, and his body ached from wearing a chest binder. “I always thought, ‘I wish I could get rid of them,’ ” Kulovitz said.

IOW, we need more BOYS to cut off their wangs.....................
Gosh. Could it be true?
There’s just no EQUITY in this cold, cruel world.
Forced busing of kids into surgical units!
I thought males were evil oppressors. So why do so many girls want to join them?
“…Kulovitz, who was assigned female at birth…”
When writers (or therapists) say things like this with a straight face, it is called “colluding with the pathology.” It is a violation of professional ethics.
But then, when was the last time anyone ever heard a discussion of ethics in the public domain?
I think I see the problem.
Mom is not a supporter, she's an enabler.
P.S. - What did this young lady's father have to say on the matter?
No reason to read further.
If gender is not real how could there be an imbalance?
What I see is in the past few days we have had a lot of articles suggesting that some caution may be needed in this area. This seems to be forming a foundation for a radical change in how the left views all this transitioning.
They are getting ahead of the tsunami of condemnation that is heading their way. Because that is coming...
.
Nobody is “assigned” their sex at birth as if they were born anatomically neutral and someone picks their sex at random.
The doctor looks and states the obvious.
“who was assigned female at birth”
Reminds me of the terminology of the Soviet Union where people would be ‘assigned’ to a certain job or a certain apartment. But even the Soviets never went this far (except maybe for Olympic athletes), and now Russia doesn’t put up with any of this crap (which is why the Left hates them so much).
Could it be that our society puts so much pressure on girls to make them think they have to be willowy thin, and have a “beautiful face?” But not all are, and the rejection by so many boys causes them to start imagining that maybe they aren’t girls. I have put the word “beautiful” in quotes because we are talking here about outward cosmetic beauty, not the real beauty that comes from within.
Have you noticed that you never see a “beautiful” girl wanting to transition. It seems to be those that the world considers overweight, homely, awkward.
I think I get this.
If the girl is REALLY ugly (like this one) they may believe life would be easier as an ugly man than an ugly woman.
How big of a,”DUH” can be posted here?
I don’t know about the other female Freepers here, but I hated my body during puberty (still kinda do, considering it tried to kill me), and I think most girls generally feel this way. My tomboyish nature, heavy weight and social ostracization from my peers (being bullied) means that I would have definitely fallen into this category if I were a young teen or preteen now.
Kids at this age seek conformity as of their lives depend on it, and until this trend slows, it’ll continue to be a problem. All they have to do in order to fit in is create a fantasy identity and they have instant adoration (”You’re so brave!”, etc.). It’s sick.
Mental illness is the new normal.
Tacrolimus1mg,
I totally agree with you. You better said what I was trying to say in my post #17.
