My. Brother was a biologist who worked with mushrooms. Only had to go hospital twice!

We gather Golden Oyster Mushrooms and Morels. Once in a while, Hen of the Woods, but they’re usually too ‘woody’ by the time we find them. (Also called Pheasant Back, I think?)
The fun part of hunting mushrooms in the Spring is coming across new-born fawns tucked in here and there while Mama is off grazing. Always magical. :)

I am very sad that I didn’t find any morels on my property this past Spring. I wish I had a reliable stash, but I guess there are a lot of factors that go into them popping up.

Just don't ever, ever make a mistake. Not even once.

He’s 88 and still harvests wild mushrooms in Montana. Personally I treat wild ‘schrooms like pit bulls.

Well, THAT will certainly make people want to eat more mushrooms, LOL! (Not!)

My dad use to forge for mushrooms back in the day. Me, I once saw an episode of Midsomers Murders where the guy ate “killer angel” mushrooms. The guy was in hospital waiting for a liver transplant and in excruciating pain. Think I’ll buy mine in the store.

Probably! And if not the deer, then probably the raccoons or the possums. But I searched every few days for a week or more.

I’ve been eating Morels, Porcini and Chanterelles for over 50 years. Two cautions if you are unsure about any mushroom don’t eat it and NO LBM’s (Little Brown Mushrooms)

Years ago my grandparents had a wooded area on their land that never grew morels. I think the soil was too sandy, but I’ll never know.
