How to Calculate Your Individual ESG Score
The Impact Investor ^ | 2/7/2022

Posted on 10/18/2022 3:31:05 AM PDT by EBH

What is the Purpose of an ESG Score for Individuals?

A few different things will determine your personal ESG score, many of which can be discovered via your regular credit report and other public records. Your purchase history and also your sales history will have a dramatic effect on your ESG rating as a person.

The charities that you support will also increase or even decrease your ESG score. The platform will track your personal impact in the environment around you through various means, which will also be used to calculate your individual ESG score.

The purpose behind each person being assigned an individual ESG score is to help reward actions that will help move the world towards sustainability. While there are not currently any downsides to having an ESG score, regardless of how high or how low, there will come a time where too low of a score can result in denials for loans or services similar to the way credit scores currently function.

For now, ESG scores for individuals are used as a tracking tool for companies to monitor behavior. For those who have already started using ESG scores as part of their business model, some people with good scores may notice lucrative offers, easier loan terms, and even targeted packages designed to reward green or sustainable behaviors.

Now that you know a little more about the basics and principles behind an individual ESG score, you may be wondering where to find your rating.

There are a few different places you can check to find your score. If you hold an account at a major financial firm such as Merrill Lynch, your personal ESG score will be listed on your account with your other personal details. You can also check any of the main ESG monitoring companies’ websites.

Not my blog,

But I am astonished at the level Of FR ignorance on this topic . Although I guess that’s why progressives are able to implement what they do.

Now that ESG is finally wagging its evil finger in our face does anyone on right even care.

Never thought it was your blog. IMO, it’s nothing but a transition of the old investing profile for a company’s economic or social values to creating the same thing for individuals. In reality it’s nothing but just another ‘feelgoodism’ with a foreboding of possible values punishment

Any article that doesn’t define an uncommon acronym, initialism or abbreviation in its first use is somewhere between worthless and suspect.

They don’t explain what an ESG score is. *tries to open a tab to search* *can’t quite do it*

Oh, well, I guess I’ll never know.....

No investor should be unaware of ESG at this point, but on first mention they link to their page that defines the term.

I agree with you editorially, however: I would spell it out once anyway.

Not, "there MAY come a time". This is absolutely insane.

ESG ostensibly stands for Environmental Social Governance. But for all practical purposes, it's a how-much-you-like-kissing-Dims'-butts score.

Perhaps the best example of that is what happened to Tesla. Many financial firms have mutual funds that are supposed to be ESG mutual funds -- meaning you can invest in the mutual fund knowing your investments will fund things in harmony with your work sensibilities. Yet, as soon as Elon Musk said he was no longer voting Dim, some investment firms dropped Tesla from their ESG funds.

Why? Did Tesla all of a sudden quit making EV's and start making dually gas guzzlers? Did Tesla quit making solar batteries and start making equipment for energy frackers? Did Tesla quit selling make-believe carbon credits? Nope. The only sin against the ESG-wokeness-cult that Tesla did was it's CEO said he was going to quit voting Dim. That alone was enough to get it dropped from so-called ESG mutual funds.

And that tells you everything you need to know about what ESG really is.

I remain shocked how many FReepers do not know what ESG means.

Sometimes I think FR has lost touch with saving the nation. FR used to be cutting edge about this stuff.

Now it’s like they pull their heads out of the sand and say, ‘what?’

Nope I won’t spoon feed FR anymore.

It is already here. You can find your score right there on your Merril Lynch account.

Best thing to do is ignore commieLites little ‘measuring YOU’ crap.

No, I’m NOT WOKE

I don’t give a damn about my ESG score

and I will ignore and boycott this latest liberal ‘elite’ bullshit - they can take their ‘score’ and shove it.

And no, we don’t cower before Disney or try ‘to understand’ groomers, sexual mutilators of children, or criminals on their 500th crime.

Sorry, don’t give a damn about this and don’t want to waste time talking about it.

this explains a survey i got from Ebay on a purchase.
I expected it to be short and sweet- but they wanted to know if i think ebay “gets” me and will always do the right thing.
I stopped answering questions, as no option for “I don’t care” was available.

I’m figuring it involves LOTS and LOTS of algebra; for example:

IDC x FESG x KMA = ESG (score)

1. Shoot yourself in the head
2. Now your score is zero

Only if you use a non-lead bullet.

In my neighborhood was a speed radar unit that flashed the speeds as you drove by. Some people put up signs near it with their higher and higher speeds declaring they won.

Ours just says SLOW DOWN at 5 over the limit.

Glad I don’t have a Merril Lynch account. If I did, it would go the way of my Twitter, Facebook, and PayPal accounts a.s.a.p.

Not knowing the particular title of a phenomenon doesn't mean a person doesn't grasp the concept. At all. FReepers, IMO, are legitimately downright paranoid at the concept, whatever they imagine the formal name to be.
