I have a sweet shih tzu mix that has lived a long life and still going. Throughout the years there have been times when she snipped at me if I did something she didnt like such as trying to take her food away (growl and snip) or pick her up for a bath when she suspected one was coming. She did it in a way that wouldnt hurt me but warn me off
I shudder to think what an aggressive dog would do if you do something they dont like...it is an ingrained auto response.
These parents probably made comments like, “Our pitties are so lovable.”
And you can bet they have lots of photos of the “lovable” pit bulls with their children.
This story is so awful. So sad for the innocent children...
So you readopted the dog and it made you happy and didnt kill anyone. So your point is? You mean to imply it shouldnt have been put down the first time it hit the shelter. If so wrong!. Its not about you. Before shelter the humane society just gassed them all after 3 days. Now for every child mauled to death by PB there are 100 idiot bleeding heart women out there that want to save them. Idiots who know they are bad but take them to no kill shelters. Idiots who donate to no kill shelters too. Thats why you just cant go get a nice dog anymore cause they are full of PB or the famous “mix” another name for PB.
You PB lovers should count yourselves with the same crowd who thinks you can turn little boys into little girls.
Sorry for your loss. So hard to lose a loyal fur baby. You were very good to him.
It’s been a long time but if I remember what I learned about dogs right, terriers in general were bread to kill other animals, whether it to hunt, or usually to clear out buildings or territories of vermin and threats to crop stores. I’m probably a little off, but even the cute little terriers can get pretty snippy.
The difference is that pits were bread to fight each other, and once they are in full attack mode, they are hard, if not impossible, to call off. They have powerful necks and jaws and they don’t let go, even when they are being killed.
I dreaded the day when the house next door would be rented by people with a pitbull and that just happened. There’s already one down the block that they let out unleashed in the front yard. Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a fear of large mean dogs and nightmares but I usually never thought about it until I started reading online about all the pit attacks and now see them on a regular basis in my neighborhood. sadly I can’t even take walks anymore which my physical therapist highly recommended.
Explain s scenario where a family pit would suddenly attack and kill a 2 yo abd a 5 month old baby
maybe someone can suggest a product that you can carry to stop them in their tracks.
post office workers might know of something
I believe foundedonpurpose was mimicking what pit bull owners tend to say about their own dogs.
Makes you wonder what else may have been going on in the home.
A lot of pit bull owners say exactly the same thing, up until the moment their precious pet mauls someone.
People probably got them as unsocialized pups. They’ll likely never be remotely trainable. That’s a very bad thing with pits. Having more than one, and small children is a bad idea, in my book, too. Some people fon’t understand canines and pack dynamics, at all.
Begins with “g” and ends in “un”?
Just a guess.
Red flag to an unsocialized dog.
There’s a reason homeowners insurance is higher if you own these beasts
I can no more explain that, than explain why a man would slay 23 children at a daycare. What’s your point?
Hmmmmm....
”Who’s a good boy?”
“Pit bulls were reportedly responsible for 67% of those deaths.”
Good data. Defenders of the breed like to say other breeds are more likely to bite you. That is probably true, but vicious little lap dogs don’t usually take your arm off, or kill a child before anyone can stop them.
Something in the .45 caliber. It seems to work every time it's tried.
