It is.
Owners of pits and pit mixes only see how comfortable and lovey dovey they are in their home and with their family. They get completely surprised when something sets them off, and by then sometimes it’s too late. Usually it’s when they are outside the home and they get territorial and feel threatened, but not always.
You can’t tell them any different. Many don’t want to listen.

Sorry pit bull fans. The breed needs to be outlawed forever. A pet mountain lion would be safer. Stop personifying animals. And stop fantasying about dogs.
People shouldn’t be allowed to own pit bulls . It’s like owning a gun that just randomly shoots people on its own.

And you shouldn’t. A good friend of mine had a pit bull mix. It was a wonderful, friendly dog. Until the day it decided to attack the UPS guy.
Fortunately for my friend, the slightly mauled UPS guy took $500 to forget about the whole thing. My friend got rid of the dog soon after. I didn’t ask how.
“ my pitbull would never do that,” Said everyone who ever had a pitbull maul somebody to death. Sorry, you don’t get to decide how safe your killer is.
Foster kids down the street have a pit bull that is vicious. I’m just waiting for the inevitable.
The dog fancier community needs to end the breed.

There have been 20 fatal dog bite attacks so far in 2022.

My local always has a full load of pit bulls in there, every now and then they get a stray hound dog or a stray beagle. Or if it’s a mix it’s usually a mix with a pitbull.
Virginia had a warehouse with 5,000 bred for research beagles in it that they were trying to find homes for... not one of those freaking beagles came to my local Humane Society.
As far as Terriers go.. I had a Min Pin that weighed 8 lb. If he had been 40lbs he might have been out of control, but at 8 pounds it was just cute.
Same thing happened to me. I went to look at an antique piece of furniture for sale, and out ran the pit. I suppose I have kitty smell, and POW. I’m used to handling livestock, so I grabbed a folded card table and used it as a herding panel until they managed to control it. They were genuinely flabbergasted that their sweetie pie could possibly do such a thing.

I accompanied my friend to a dog shelter to adopt a dog for himself. Like 90 percent of the dogs they had were Pit bulls.
Long story short, he adopts a sweet natured pit bull terrier mix, but returns the pit to the shelter about a year or so later (because the dog bared his teeth to one of my friends guests). I’m brokenhearted. So I go back to the shelter to adopt him myself. Best thing I ever did for myself.
Sweetest, most gentle dog ever. He made me so incredibly happy.
After owning him for 3 years, this past june he had to be put to sleep due to untreatable medical issues. He was 88 years old in human years. I’ve grieved every day since. I’ll miss him forever.

My wife has been attacked by a junkyard hound dog, my sister-in-law has been attacked twice by pit bulls down the street and the county in the Roanoke area refuses to do anything about it. It’s been to court, their hands are tied there’s nothing they can do about that dog and it has attacked her two times and they got additional pit bulls on the property now.
My brother-in-law was attacked by a Mastiff that he knew and lived with and the dog was older and just had a freaking mental snap tore him up pretty good on the arm.
I’ve had dogs all my life and I would never trust a pitbull and I’ve been around guard dogs many kind of dogs, pit bulls aren’t even a guard dog they are just an attack dog, and not necessarily on command.
But I’m not letting other breeds off so easy, I’ve seen Border Collies and other shepherding dogs beat the crap out of other dogs for no reason and although I’ve never seen them do that to a human... trying to bust up a fight might cause some issues.

Pit bulls aren’t all violent? Hogwash. They are killing machines.
Man, that is just terrible. I am pretty sure my black lab is a pitbull mix. Sweestest big baby you will ever meet. Someone would probably at least think twice about trying to break into our house though - she can sound and look fierce when she wants to.
If you don’t like “Pitbulls,” don’t get one. Don’t ostracize my pitbull because it has more fidelity, bravery and integrity than most humans I know. Dogs are like guns. Ya gotta know what you’re doin’ when you get one. People’s thinking is quite fascinating. Remember how people who refused to get the Covid “Death Shot” were regarded as threats to the rest of society? Don’t be stampeded into following the herd!
Conversely, I trained my collie to kill and everyone thinks the breed is friendly.
Pit bulls were bred to fight. They didn’t call them PIT BULLS for nothing. Their jaws are bred to be very powerful and their skulls are thicker. There is a primal extinct built into every dog as like the human. Jack Russell Terriers are a smaller version but bred for hunting. They will quit at nothing to find and kill whatever it is they’re after.
The pack mentality is strong in most breeds and when the fighting starts it usually doesn’t end until everything stops resisting or running includingeach other. The breed should be banned even though there are gentle pit bulls out there.
My brother in law had a pit bull that bit my daughter in the face unprovoked. He did not get rid of the dog and we stopped visiting. About a year later, it attacked my nephew and severely injured his legs and arm. Terrible scars and years of surgery to fix muscle tissue and graft skin. Months of agonizing pain. I see a pit bull today and I think who will be next.
