The number of Americans aged 65 and older has increased to approximately 56 million, or 17 percent of the population, nearly double the 1960 level of 9 percent. The majority, about 55 percent, are women, and among those 85 years and older, nearly two-thirds are women. T Also importantly, by 2034, those older than 65 are expected to outnumber children for the first time in U.S. history.
Although COVID-19 reduced life expectancies of older Americans by approximately a year, Americans at age 65 years in 2021 could expect to live an additional 18 years on average — about 17 years for men and 20 years for women. In addition to the sex difference, life expectancies at age 65 vary across America’s racial/ethnic groups, with Asians experiencing the highest at 21 years, followed by Hispanics at 19 years and white Americans at 18 years. The lowest life expectancies at age 65 at slightly more than 16 years are among Native Americans and Blacks.
With respect to financial resources, the median annual income is approximately $28,000 for men and $22,000 for women. Also, nearly 10 percent live below the poverty level. This also varies according to racial/ethnic demographics, with Black and Hispanic Americans having the highest percentages living below the poverty level at 18 and 17 percent, respectively. Asian and White Americans are at approximately half those levels with 9 and 7 percent, respectively.
Despite the widespread desire among Americans for early retirement, the financial resources of most are insufficient.
According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), nearly half of American households headed by someone 55 years and older lack some form of retirement savings. It also reports that close to 30 percent of those who are retired or nearing retirement do not have retirement savings or a defined benefit plan.

Why should any American save for their own retirement? The democrats have been telling us for at least 70 years the government will take care of us. Look how that worked out for Obunghole. I learned long ago to pay off everything before I retire and sock every possible cent in to savings since I had no husband or children. My home and car are paid off so all I have is monthly utilities, food, etc. I still work a few days per week so that pays for my monthly needs. I put my SS check immediately into savings.

Very simple. Most people aren’t all that smart. We have a free society where all people are supposedly treated equally.
Because of political clout( eg Democrats) these people warp the system to their benefit at our loss. A consequence of that, is resources to long term benefit people in need are looted for the short term benefit of idiots(AKA Democrat voters, and elitists).
Social security is compromised, Medicare is broke, rational housing decisions can’t be made, Mentally ill people can’t be cared for, I could go on and on.

Solution - repeal the 16th and 17th amendments and wait a generation or two. That isn’t going to happen so prepare for the worst.
I planned for my retirement, which will be in 3 years max from now, But with Brandon in charge I’m not sure 125K a year in retirement will be enough

For a country of its size, the population of Israel is very high and many of the people living there hope that the growth would slow down. Since the establishment of the State, the population has increased approximately tenfold, primarily as a result of the high immigration of Jews into the country. Generally, the growth rate increased by about 138,000 or 1.8% annually since the Independence Day commemorated in 2012; which is similar to the growth rate that has been observed in the last 8 years, and it is expected that the population will increase roughly 5 million over the next 20 years or so. During this same period, the Jewish population grew by 1.8%, a similar trend observed in previous years. The Arab growth rate was 2.4%, down tremendously from the 3.4% annual growth rate experienced in the 1990s. The Christian population grew too (by 1.3%), while the Druze population grew by 1.7%.

Even Russia, which had a huge abortion rate under the Soviets, has managed to cut way down, and like him or not, Putin has been pretty good on doing this. If only for survival, since native Russians were diminishing daily.
As for China, they’re now trying to encourage women to have children...after years of “permitting” only one child and forcing abortions on women who got pregnant again.
Depopulation is a serious threat, and if only for that, leaving aside the moral issue of killing an innocent human being for fun and profit, countries including the US should try to reduce abortions and encourage births.
I'll read it later but note that some futurists and science fiction writers have presented the theory that robotics could make up the slack of fewer people of working age by 2034 instead of the globalists elites importing illegal turd worlders.
We wouldn't need to pay chump change to people doing repetitious jobs if those mundane tasks were automated. My garbage service truck only has a driver now instead of two other people hanging on the tail, because that have a clamp that picks up the bin and dumps it in the truck.

I have been closely following the boomers through life. My schools were physically ruined by the hordes of boomers. My choices after college were limited because of the glut of boomers in the workforce. Boomers propagated the Herpes crises with immortality, thus ruining it for the rest of us.
Fast forward….they got comfortable in their jobs and never left. Thus, another log jam of mobility in front of us.
Finally, they smoked, drank, and ate crap food so they filled up the hospitals. Their lousy financial planning will now leave our kids holding the bag as the boomer languish in state funded nursing homes.
If you look at the Presidents they’ve “elected” since 1968…the list is not impressive.
Individuals may be impressive. But let’s face it…aside from the music..you guys have been a bust.
I’m screwed. But I will rely on my own funds and the lowered social security check (I’ll be retiring after it goes bankrupt) as much as I can without drawing from elsewhere.
