I've had enough, I'm retiring. (Not contributing my hard earned tax dollars to this Biden bullsh** anymore.)

After 38 years working in the Information Technology / Information Security fields, I've had enough.

It's not that I hate my job (I don't) and it's not that I don't like the people I work with (I do. I think of them as family.) I just cannot stand the thought of my hard earned tax dollars going to support the most corrupt, crooked, tyrannical, incompetent, inept and damn' it, STUPID and STOLEN Presidency there ever has been, and ever will be, the Biden Crime Family.

I've informed my employer, a global financial services organization that I'm pulling the plug on August 31st.

I wanted to make it to the end of the year, I just cannot do it any longer. I will not give a single hard earned cent to the most corrupt government EVER in the history of this country any longer than I have to.

Over the past 10 years, an immense amount of talent has already left the workforce and I’m definitely feeling the effects in my company.

It's one of the reasons I'm going (in addition to saying f*** it to paying that corrupt a-hole Biden any more of my hard earned tax dollars.)

The reality is NO ONE wants to work any more and I'm tired of putting in 60+ hour work weeks because of the sense of pride I ... and those like me at the bank ... have in doing a great job.

The generation behind us doesn't give A.F. about doing a great job because they look at work differently than I do.

I've always had a sense of pride in doing the best job I can, and at times that came at the expense of family. It's probably one of the reasons I'm divorced.

The generation after mine looks at work as a "means to live" which is completely different from many in my generation who lived to work.

My own opinion of course and I may be wrong about the generation after mine. All I know is, I'm tired and I want to do something else and more meaningful with my life.

I'm also pushing 60, and the men in my family are typically dead by 73. I want to make the most of the time I have left.

I applaud you. I’m on the verge too but unlike you I despise the GD company I’ve wasted the last 20 years at. Literally despise every scumbag in management and can’t wait to get out.

Respectfully, it's time for you to go and have joy in your life.

You owe it to yourself, your family and those you love.

I have my own business. I pay taxes, sometimes quite a lot.

But I do enjoy thinking of ways to NOT pay Uncle Sam.

Good for you! But i gotta tell you... Retirement is a full time job! Lol”

+++++

It is isn’t it? I retired a couple of years ago, and I can barely find time to go meet old friends from the office for lunch. Retirement is a busy and full-time job!

You found her now so be thankful. Mine is 12 years younger so when she retires it might be tough. But today is good. God bless and enjoy your deserved retirement. I have 7-9 years.

Gave it up 5 years ago. I do what I want to do and little else. I hate these bastards so much I minimize income without sacrificing too much comfort but live below our means as we have for decades. Delayed ss to maximize and want to live long if for nothing but spite.

Good luck.

Congratulations! 30+ years in iT. Gave that up 3 years ago. Not retired but doing better things besides feeding that beast. I like working.

I don't know many who started in I.T. and retired while still in I.T. Most of my I.T. friends found different lines of work years ago and were happy they left I.T. Personally, I've always enjoyed it. Always something new to learn.

Were it not for the incompetent, corrupt a-hole in D.C. I'd hang on another 5 years and take the $1m+ I'm leaving on the table instead.

But here I am, standing on principle giving the District of Corruption both middle fingers as I retire.

I have more than enough, I don't need it (and THEY do!) so eff 'em!

Working till end of August also puts her at 25 years, which pays a little more.

More good choices. My wife has 22 years at her current employer. She dispatched for San Diego Sheriff's Office from 1994 to 2000. That doesn't count for service at the current location.

Glad you are going to be able to do what makes you happy.

A word of advice.

Do not buy a boat or a RV right away.

If you want to travel or sail, lease.

After a year or two of doing it, if you feel it is still fun then you can buy.

90% of the people I know that decided to become land or sea gypsies regretted it in the first year.

The rest are having a blast.

You just reminded me of two things.

First, GF says "we should buy a boat." I keep asking "who's this "we" you're talking about?" Shuts her down every time.

Second, a very good friend of mine, who happened to take Harley Davidson public post the AMF debacle always says to me "If it floats, flies or f***s, don't buy it, rent it!" and I'm sticking to that.

I've heard the two happiest days in an RV or Boat Owners life is when they buy their RV/Boat and then again when they sell it!

HELLINOIS...good label. I've worked in Lisle and Countryside at different times. I live in the Pocatello area. Lots of tall mountains surrounding our valley. Scout Mountain (10,850 ft) and Kinport (7222) have great coverage. Commercial and solar power. Once the snow arrives in September, the sites become inaccessible until late May. Most of the commercial sites are on Chinese Peak (6,791 ft) where a good road is usually open all year. No amateur sites up there.

I raised the question about setting up a DMR repeat to the Pocatello Amateur Radio Club. No interest. It's openSPOT or bust for me on DMR.

I own a couple GMRS handhelds. They are stored with batteries out so they don't get damaged. It's fallback coverage. Ditto for my old 1976 vintage CB radio. It makes sense to have coverage where other than hams are present if an emergency occurs. More eyes and ears to help.

Yep.

My uncle retired, sold the house, said they were going to travel. Got a big new fifth wheel and truck. Goal was to play every golf course in the USA. Did not last even six months.

Came back to the area he had live before, bought a much smaller house near a golf course and is very happy.

Every winter when it gets really cold they rent an RV and go off to sunny climes where he plays golf.

Try Ice Fishing 🎣

Get a boat and hire a Capitan to drive it for You.

Tie a small rock to the line on the fishing pole and deploy it to the water.

Sit in Your seat and fish around in the cooler loaded with ice and beer till You catch one, pull it out, pop the top and drink the beer. Repeat as needed.

When the Fish and Game Officer stops for a gear and license check show them the rock tied to the line to prove that You have no hook, show them the small Tackle Box filled only with more rocks.

You’re not fishing so no License is required and You have a Capitan to drive the boat so You can drink beer legally all day. Make note that You are Retired.

Your Capitan is in charge of the boat and all required safety gear; Fire Extinguisher, Horn, Life Jackets, throw cushion, Registration and Insurance.

Happy Retirement !!!

I’m 64 and a Realtor. I love my brokerage. All younger people in their 20’s and 30’s and either conservative or clueless to anything political. They keep me young. I’ll never retire. I work when I want and have no set hours

Ditto. IT field since 1980. Retiring March 18 2023. That my 66 and 4 months date. I will have worked 49 years. Tired. I too am tired of fighting the beast. Not sure it’s going to be pleasant though.
