An estimated 500 to 1,000 bacterial species reside in each person's gut, perhaps numbering 100,000 trillion microorganisms. Researchers used mouse models to explore how diet and feeding patterns affect these intestinal microbes—and the health of the hosts, particularly with obesity and type 2 diabetes.
"It's important to realize that the gut microbiome is constantly changing, not only based on what we're eating, but also based on the time of day," said Amir Zarrinpar, MD, Ph.D.
"And what we've learned is that cyclical changes in the gut microbiome are quite important for health since they help with the circadian clock, and with that the regulation and control of glucose, cholesterol and fatty acids—and overall metabolic health."
In their latest work, Zarrinpar and colleagues further elucidate the impact and interplay of these factors, particularly in terms of the ileum and its unique functions related to digestion and absorption. Specifically, they looked at how diet-induced obesity (DIO) and time-restricted feeding (TRF) alter ileal microbiome composition and transcriptome (the protein-coding part of an organism's genome) in mouse models.
The researchers found that in mouse models, DIO and the absence of TRF (mice could eat as much as they wanted whenever they wanted) resulted in disruptions to gut microbiome rhythms and the signaling pathways that help modulate intestinal clocks. In other words, the mice became fat and unhealthy.
"It is interesting that restricting food access with TRF acts not only through restoration of patterns affected under the unhealthy state, but also through new pathways," said Ana Carolina Dantas Machado, Ph.D.
"These findings underscore the influence of diet and time restricted feeding patterns in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome, which in turn modulates circadian rhythms that govern metabolic health," said Zarrinpar.

It doesn’t make bacteria change much, but it does make the existing the existing bacteria output metabolites that keep our bodies working properly, by being on a proper schedule.

This sounds weird but I once read something about Hitler’s doctor squirting poop from a Romanian peasant into capsules and feeding them to Hitler ... I understand the reasoning but am shocked that he would swallow them.....ewwww. It was a treatment for flatulence... (I’d rather just fart)
I did a search for this and yes, it did show up... along with a bunch more ewww...
It seems that all Der Fuhrer ate was cabbage and raw vegetables... no wonder the man had wind.
Here’s a tip, NEVER search using “hitler poop”
U been warned!
If I could get a yogurt or something that had these microbes in them I’d be so happy because I have metabolic syndrome that is so bad that I am down to eating just lettuce with hardly any salad dressing on it
Intermittent fasting has helped me lose 40 pounds and brought my A1C down to 5.4 from over 9 just 2 years ago.

Did you restrict to only certain times a day or did you go days without eating?
3 or 4 times a month I go more than 24 hours without eating. Fluids only. About once a week.

A1C at 5.4? That’s now at an excellent reading.
I would bet your insulin (and obviously glucose) are also really good.
A lot more physical activity through the day would help blunt this, even if you kept a similar diet.
You could stop all simple sugars, high sugar fruits, breads, etc. and favor just the most complex of carbohydrates (low Glycemic Index or Glycemic Load). You could also go low carb, for even fewer opportunities for excess blood sugar.
Intermittent fasting helps your body reset itself, regardless of diet and activity, but it will take time, if not making other changes mentioned above.
Our bodies were not meant to eat at potentially any waking hour, eat excess calories or calories we don't burn off, or eat simple sugars (breads are effectively a simple sugar, due to their five minute conversion to sugar). Even Jesus said man cannot live on bread, alone.
There are supplements that definitely help in getting rid of metabolic syndrome, but nothing is as powerful as diet and exercise. Even stomach stapling is affecting diet, but works pretty well (however, it is extreme).
Intermittent fasting can mess up your gall bladder. Better to intermittently skip the carbs only, and generally reduce calories. It’s the constant carb snacking that gives you hyperinsulinemia, which makes you fat and sick.
Or is this a no no?

No prob. I’m on the War Room email list so have saved all the links. I’ll find it!!! Thank you.
I’ve read/heard about poop from one person with healthy a gut being transferred to someone else to treat GERD. IIRC the method was NOT via mouth — either suppository or simple surgery. Seems it worked. IDK for sure.
... well done, can you share your fasting schedule, for those of us that still need to drop 40 lbs?? ....thanks in advance
go to a wellness program that works with weight
they can put you on a program to break that cycle
Down that, going on last 6 years
6 years, done that
