Why am I thinking “Far Side”?
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
They should have taken his rifles so they could pretend it was a robbery and not an eco-terror assassination.
The non-profit Heritage Protection Group said Naude was shot dead by a man who pulled up alongside him when the hunter stopped his car near Mokopane after it overheated, according to Metro UK.
Big game hunting is what funds the African conservation programs, and the animals chosen for culling are old.
Without the money from big game hunting, the poachers get to run wild.

I’m seeing eco-terrorism bandied about but I’m thinking it might have been a poacher.
Poachers. Legal hunts by legitimate outfitters are the greatest threat to the poachers since the monies taken in by the expensive licenses go to funding the anti-poaching militias........
Back in the days of Teddy Roosevelt’s big game safaris one could understand the allure of having a trophy on the wall because it truly was an adventure to achieve. One had to pack all the supplies to a remote Wilderness, hazarding tropic diseases,,weather and various dangerous animals without the expectations of help. One had a story equal to the mounted beast.
Nowadays the “hunter” flies in to the game preserve, guaranteed a kill, then takes selfies and flies out.
What a great story to tell the grandkiddies/sarc.
F this clown who makes (made) real hunters who eat (their family eating too) their kills look bad. This clown was killing magnificent animals and making big money (profiteering) guiding those betas who wanted to rack up a prestigious African kill.
iow — He guides an incel clown who kills a giraffe. He makes a few thousand dollars.
Somehow I find it difficult to shed a tear.
He definitely had it coming. I’m a life long hunter, I’ve been to Africa and shooting these magnificent animals with anything but a camera is despicable.
Maybe he met up with Lafcadio - The Lion, Who Shot Back.
That’s a nice lion!
Oh well.
I find his sort creepy.
I’ll say this much. Other deaths have bothered me more.
Managed hunting isn’t why these animals are endangered, it’s poaching. The African countries that have the big game animals are too poor to be able to effectively protect the animals’ entire range, which leaves them susceptible to poaching.
The lion in the photo would have been selected by country’s game managers because it was old and in its decline, probably already ousted from the pride by a younger, stronger male. It would never have an opportunity to breed again.
However, the trophy fee from that one animal would pay the annual salary of a dozen or more game rangers. So by monetizing the death of that animal, the state improved the chances of survival for that species.
Managed hunting isn’t the problem, it’s the solution.
Geez, I read 88 posts on the thread and thought I was on a PETA site. What a bunch of libs we have here.
