Incumbent Ken Paxton-8 years in office. Shouldn't he move on to something else? George P's a Trump supporter who went against the entire Bush klan without disowning them. Too many here see him as the family scapegoat. He's been a loyal republican who didn't support Hillary. The left calls us all haters and I can see an element of it here. He'd do well at the job and the case can be made for a change based on party health alone.
If only native Texans voted in 2018, Beto O’Rourke would be our junior senator today. New Texans are what’s keeping Texas Republican.
The Bush family destroyed any political capital they had by allying themselves with the Left on various issues, and turning their backs (if not openly demonizing them) on people who had supported them (for whatever reason, valid or invalid)

But, my point was that if a Republican opponent wants to make the case in the primary that the accusations would be a burden in the general, just say that, as Louis Gohmert did. Don’t hand the Dems and hostile press a lede or headline of “a prominent Republican elected official is on record asserting the criminality and corruption of Ken Paxton.”
