Vaxxed?
I can do a half marathon of 13 miles. It might take me all day, though.

Heat is lethal in marathons. The hospital tents were probably full after this one.

FTA: The statement also addressed weather concerns: “In coordination and consultation with the city agency partners and weather experts, NYRR was closely monitoring weather conditions leading up to and during the race. Throughout the race, weather temperatures ranged from the low 60s to high 70s.”

It was a warm day and heat could be a factor. I officiated a track meet all day in suburban Maryland. Took nearly 3 quarts of fluid.

According to CBS New York...
"Throughout the race, weather temperatures ranged from the low 60s to high 70s..."
"In total, the FDNY says 16 people were taken to the hospital. Five were reported to have serious injuries..."

One of the Russian new outlets mentioned this much earlier today, so I figured it was Fake News.
Bummer for the family.

You’ve probably seen the rear window sticker of those bragging about running a marathon, a white horizontal oval imprinted with 26.2. Even better are the the ones imprinted .262.

I’ve seen people who have suffered cardiac arrest while running a 10K - from only moderate coronary disease. When you are pushing the limits for your age there is a risk. That said, better to push and risk. Most who do wind up better off.
