    You know those "ritual purpose" explanations? Well, that appears to me to be valid here -- just an amulet or charm for the superstitious. If not that, then a gambling throw. Either one would make sense since most of these have been found in old Roman military contexts. But by all means, enjoy this video, it's excellent, and I've set the time index to skip the opening ad.

    I know what that is. It’s a device to used steal votes for the Roman Senate. Interestingly enough, Democrats use an updated version of this device to steal votes today.
