Steven Seagal has sparked fury after claiming both sides of the Ukraine war are 'one family' and blaming an 'outside entity' for spreading propaganda against the Russian invasion.
The actor, 69, who is a friend of Vladimir Putin and was granted Russian citizenship in 2016, said he is hoping for a 'peaceful resolution' after forces invaded Ukraine last week.
The Kremlin apologist, who was appointed as a special envoy for humanitarian ties with the US in 2018, previously supported Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and praised Putin as 'one of the great living world leaders'.
The Under Siege star told Fox News: 'Most of us have friends and family in Russia and Ukraine.
'I look at both as one family and really believe it is an outside entity spending huge sums of money on propaganda to provoke the two countries to be at odds with each other.
'My prayers are that both countries will come to a positive, peaceful resolution where we can live & thrive together in peace.'
The comments sparked fury online, with many slamming the actor for parroting the Kremlin's lines and failing to condemn the Russian invasion.

What is especially galling is Seagal’s movies showed him defending the weak against a bully & defending right against wrong.
A word I have grown very tired of since this started: “propaganda.” As if no one can understand the basics of what Putin is doing and think for themselves. Have the “everything is propaganda” folks forgotten that Putin has a long criminal track record?
As an aside, when my mother’s natural beauty began to fade she stopped using makeup. She said that if a woman makes up her face every day, erasing lines and covering spots she develops an unreal image of what she really looks like. Then, one day she gets sick and can’t make up her face and suffers shock over what she really looks like.
Stephen looks like he actually spends time in a chair with a makeup man, like Hillary said she does. Hillary actually estimated the hours, and it was huge. Frankly, I’d never have told as it would have revealed what a self-centered A-hole I am. I’ve seen Hillary made up for TV and not made up. In the latter condition, dressed in a tent, she looks her age and alcoholic condition. After a while when you see someone made up the illusion is broken, and they look totally fake. Better to appear as you really are. No one is fooled. (PS, that’s a wig.)
Putin’s criminal track record and his background as a KGB thug are probably what appeals to some of his adoring fans.

Yes, they've gone nuts about Ukraine. A lot of the fake stories like the "ghost of Kiev" or the "1,000 dead Chechens" were promoted there. They truly don't care to get it right.
