Sci-fi films and TV shows have routinely depicted a brutal race of aliens visiting Earth in their spaceships and enslaving unfortunate Earthlings.
But according to one expert, extraterrestrial life may actually be too scared of 'dangerous' and 'violent' humans to want to come here.
Dr Gordon Gallup, a biopsychologist at the University of Albany, argues that humans are 'dangerous, violent and ceaselessly engage in endless bloody conflicts and war'.
For this reason, aliens with the technological capability of making a visit to Earth - if they exist - are likely inclined to stay away for fear of death and genocide, according to Dr Gallup.
No life beyond Earth has ever been found and there is no evidence that alien life has ever visited our planet. But this may be due to extraterrestrial life being too scared of 'dangerous' and 'violent' humans (artist's impression)

Dr Gallup has presented his argument in an open access paper published in the Journal of Astrobiology this month.
'If [alien life] exists it may have found us by now and discovered that humans are dangerous, violent and ceaselessly engage in endless bloody conflicts and war, and continually develop even more powerful weapons of mass destruction,' Dr Gallup says.
'It would also be obvious, that as a byproduct of increasing pollution, habitat destruction, coupled with endless wars, pillage, death, destruction and the desire for conquest, that humans pose an unparalleled and unprecedented risk not only to other life forms on Earth but to life on other planets.'

I’m sure this guy is up for one of those $1 million dollar genius awards that universities like to award.
LOL
If they picked up broadcasts of TikTok I can understand.
What’s that cannibal island people are told not to go to? And some chick went there a couple years ago, and the predictable happened? Yeah it’s possible aliens look at as a cannibal island.
Of course the reality is that space is HUGE and we haven’t made much of a footprint. So they probably don’t know about us.
NIMBY - Aliens, go home!
This is a common contention of the self-loathing, flagellating humans of the left. By declaring that humans are generally worthy of annihilation, they place themselves above the rabble and imagine themselves as the ironic and wise greek chorus of the movie in their head. Plus they think other liberals will regard such sentiments as noble and enlightened.
Are you kidding? biopsychologist? Wow. Never heard of such a program, but I am sure that he is ‘tenured’, and can say whatever he wants (except anything bad about vaccines, cross dressers or trucks).
Or worse, forget humans, picture ants with the bomb
"The foreign policy aim of ants can be summed up as follows: restless aggression, territorial conquest, and genocidal annihilation of neighboring colonies whenever possible. If ants had nuclear weapons, they would probably end the world in a week.” - Bert Holldobler
The universe is so vast that I am sure there are innumerable planets with “intelligent” life, but they would all be so many millions of light years away that it is irrelevant.
By definition, any aliens who might visit Earth would have to be tool builders / technological and curious. Whales, for example, might be intelligent, but they’re not going to be building rockets and exploring the cosmos.
If there are aliens observing us, their technology could be 1.000 or 5,000 years more advanced than ours. They have little to be scared regarding their own safety. They may be simply curious and want to observe our behavior the way we might observe a species of monkey.
E.T. is staying home.
Don’t want ‘em leaving their green goo, crop circles or landing marks on the grass.
And those bright lights flashing all the time make my head hurt.
Yep.
Kind of the opposite of the noble savage;the noble alien.
I race capable of interstellar travel would be no more afraid of us then we are of tree lichen !
They’re afraid of Slim Whitman
The simplest answer is that there are none...at least in our galaxy. In a finite universe, someone has to be first. And it took 13.6+billion years for the Universe to come up with us.
He probably thinks he doesn’t get paid enough at $100,000+ a year....
Good point.
