For my job, I come in contact with many people from states where masking is maybe not "mandatory" but heavily and socially encouraged.
The people ask me if they have to wear a mask, and I say no, this is Texas, and I would say the vast majority basically say, thank God.
Nope. Mostly it is just older folks wearing them. When we go to Walmart, we wear them simply because you have so many people stacked together in there and we do it for the real flu more than anything else. We use those wipe cloths on the buggies and our hands the second we are out of the store. But mostly it is older folks wearing them, and of course the brain washed/dead college students here in town.
I live in Florida
I live in Western MA. Few communities still have mask requirements. They are required for live performances (community theatre and what-not.). It’s not a big deal.
20 miles to the south in CT, I went to a mall the other day and everyone was masked up. I felt like I was on another planet.
When we have various tradespeople come into the house to do work...all are wearing a mask. I tell them upfront, they don’t have to wear the mask in our house. Most come out of them....some do not.
I’ve got a doctor’s visit this afternoon. They’ve already emailed and said I must wear a mask. I won’t be wearing one when I arrive, but will put one on if they supply me with one.
I do the same when we have workers around. They all say thanks and remove their masks.
The last time I was confronted about not wearing a mask was in my local Ace Hardware store. A worker attempted to lay hands on me to physically force me out of the building. I politely informed her that if she valued her hands remaining attached to her arms that she would let go. Of course, it goes without saying that I’ll never return there.
In Western NY where, as you recall, Lady Gov has mandated masks in all indoor spaces...
... which is not being enforced here. In fact, several upstate counties have told her to respectfully pound sand.
No one is throwing anyone out of a store for not wearing a mask. The reason is obvious: They can’t afford NOT having customers’ patronage.
No in NC.
I had a worker in a store in Lewisburg WV ask us to mask up. So I used their mask. I still have it. It’s a mask that it is easy to breathe in.
I live in GA and never wore a mask into any place of business the whole time. I was never confronted by anyone. I did wear one at the doctor office once because they said they required it to be seen. Also, I did wear them in the airport and airplane for several flights. It was the stupidest thing I ever participated in during my entire life.
In my north Georgia little city, the ones who go unmasked are most certainly the vaccinated. They have been told if they’re double jabbed and boost jabbed they are 100% in the clear. No national news largely available to them tells them that while they are vaccinated they can still harbor the virus and retransmit it. As far as they’re concerned they’re good as gold. Now, all I see are seniors like me who are still wearing masks.
I have never been asked to put one on. I did see someone telling someone at Petsmart that they needed to put on a mask; but that was last year.
East central Indiana here... virtually no masks around except health care facilities
I don’t wear a disgusting mask and never will again.....I laugh when I see the fools breathing in their own junk instead of fresh air....how stupid.....
We don’t have too many libs here, mostly rednecks and lots of farmers.
I saw only 4-5 masks with probably dozens or more smiling faces.
I got a half dozen compliments on my hat {I always get a few in this county} and every clerk said, "Merry Christmas".
Merry Christmas is my message to all Freepers.
Other than when going into a medical facility or office I can’t remember the last time I wore a mask.
A lot of us here in Florida watch what’s happening in other states and shake our heads in disbelief.
OBTW Fla now leads the country in least # of covid infections.
nope.
Only at dr offices. But I notice even there many have it pulled below the nose.
