She said she even had to walk home from the store, and was never as much as offered a taxi.
"Never one time did he apologize to me for this heartbreaking issue or even offer any help," she said. "My family and I could have lost our lives and he thinks I'm trying to gain something other than what I came to Walmart with — which is a car."
"I work very hard for everything I have. I work two jobs to provide for my daughter and now I don't even have a vehicle to go to either one of my jobs. I came to Walmart with a perfectly fine car and I had to WALK home with nothing."
Nikki says all she wants is the car she had, replaced — same model and year, nothing more — so she can get to work.
"I'm not looking for any extra money I just need a car," she said. "I just don't deserve to be without a car due to the lack of professionalism at Walmart."
"That was my dream car," she added, as she broke down into tears. "I worked so hard to make the payments on it..."
She said that as soon as she told Walmart she was hiring a lawyer, they went silent.
"So as of now I'm going to have to pay for my own rental car which I'll have to take from my rent money just to get to work," she said. "I'm not looking for money out of anyone, I just want Walmart to do the right thing."
Walmart’s defense: She said to change the oil, she didn’t say what she wanted us to turn it into. We chose to turn it into ashes. Motion to disiss.
Seems somewhat reasonable.
How much extra for the blowup did Walmart charge her?
The very same thing happened to my SUV but at least it didn’t explode - the morons didn’t replace the oil filler cap and blew oil all over the inside of the hood. Don’t ever go to Walmart for any auto servicing; once when I had the battery replaced they didn’t put the bracket back on. Went back next day and they couldn’t find it. Then too, went to have my tires rotated and the manager said they didn’t sell those tires - showed him the receipt that showed I bought them at his store.
Typical Jeep product.
As someone who has unintentionally started four car fires, and totaling two of those, in my experience use power steering fluid or gasoline to light the candle. Oil doesn’t burn as easily.
Sometimes it's how you handle people. If you go in there fussin' and cussin' "Y'all blew up my car ya bunch a turd wads!" it might lower the odds of them treating you gracefully.
reminds me years ago a friend bought a new car constantly taking the lemon to the dealer last time he was talking to mechanic and engine caught on fire...mechanic slammed the hood down and ran for fire extinguisher my friend said when mechanic left he opened the hood and quietly said burn baby burn and it did!
car that new and no insurance?
(I went to the link and looked at the photo, that is a pretty new jeep)
turn it over to insurance, get a loaner car and let them fight with walmart over who pays for the car.
Taking a vehicle to a mechanic shop for an oil change is about like dropping your baby off with the Taliban for a diaper change
I’m skeptical of this one…
“Mom Asks Walmart for Oil Change”
I identified the problem right off the bat.
Some things shouldn’t be done the cheap way.
Never one time did he apologize to me for this heartbreaking issue or even offer any help,” she said. “
yeah he figured since the car in question was now burned to cinders he was in the clear.
When you drop your vehicle off at any car repair biz, when you get there take pics of the front, rear, both sides, the interior and the engine compartment of the vehicle.
Then ask the service writer for a damage check list, do a walk around the vehicle and document any existing damage to the vehicle.
Do not trust the people who are in this business.
One lesson my father taught me when I was about 16: When it comes to car repairs, its better pay a little more and make sure it is done right.
If she had comprehensive insurance on it you could be damn sure the insurance company would go after Wally world to pay.
My husband had a maintenance check done on his vehicle then picked me up to travel to a town that was quite a distance from where we lived.
On the way home the engine was running hot. Fortunately we managed to stop in the parking lot of an auto supply, looked under the hood and saw steam coming out of the transmission. No cap could be found. We waited until the engine cooled down and filled it with transmission fluid. I stuffed a facemask in the hole to keep the liquid from spurting out
The vehicle limped into our local dealership and the mechanics told us, “You’re in luck! We just found an extra cap laying around.” Go figure.
Fortunately the vehicle was OK.
I had a muffler shop set my car on fire. Funny because I was riding with my parents and when we were heading up the road, I saw smoke back where the muffler shop was and I joked about it being my car. Went back to the shop when it was supposed to be done and there was water dripping from it where they put the fire out with a water hose. Guy said he was popping a hole in the floor to be able to put a screw in for an exhaust hanger. He used a torch which set the back seat on fire. 1971 Nova I had been restoring, burned the nice back seat and new cloth headliner, carpet etc. Ins company gave me $800 and I kept the car.
I had a car that I sold myself. Some guys came over to look at it. They raised the hood and took off the oil filler cap and asked me to start it which I did. Messed up one guy’s white shirt pretty bad.
Years ago, we were returning from a family vacation, but had to stop at a garage for something. The guy had the hood up and all of us were looking at what he was doing. When he finished, we got back in the car and started driving away. My youngest son -— about 6 years old at the time said “He didn’t put the cap back on.” HUH? My husband and I and our 3 older kids AND the garage worker didn’t notice????
