Malaysian master’s student Shin Jie Yong poured through more than 100 different studies examining the efficacy of cloth masks in fighting airborne infections, and his conclusion is that it’s “questionable.”
Yong writes that he first tried to use Google to find the evidence he was looking for, but due to a lack of “concrete info” to be found on the world’s most popular search engine, he ended up going to PubMed, “a biomedical literature database,” where he “looked through over 100 indexed papers about cloth masks.”
A meta-analysis published last month showed, not surprisingly, that “wearing N95s and surgical masks decreased the risk of respiratory infections by 33% and 17%, respectively, compared to no mask” at all, Yong says.
Production of N95 masks is highly regulated, making them more difficult for consumers to buy.
They do seem to work though:
Based on these latest systematic reviews, we can see that masks do protect against respiratory viruses that come before Covid-19, but they are not foolproof. Wearing masks may not be pleasant either, with some people experiencing headaches and problems with breathing and skin condition. But aside from cloth masks (double-layered), we can be assured that N95s and surgical masks don’t promote respiratory viral infections.
Wearing a more typical, cheaper, easier-to-buy, double-layered cloth mask, however, “increased infection risk instead by a staggering 380% versus no mask.” [Emphasis added] This is according to another meta-analysis of data from a number of studies from around the world.
Another study Yong quoted “found an 11% reduction in influenza-like illnesses in those who wore masks, but this result did not reach statistical significance.” Also, that study failed to differentiate between people wearing N95 masks, surgical masks, or more common cloth masks.

Science. This will not be allowed on social media for long.
Americans are desperate to be part of something bigger than themselves. As we’ve shed religion, the need is still there. The virus has given them meaning. The mandates are much like the commandments to them. Those that won’t follow are heretics. The science need not be solid, as long as it comes from their new god, government.
And that is why America is going to experience some really bad times.

I was on a flight recently where the airline constantly hectored passengers to wear a mask.
I watched little kids play with theirs, or their brothers and sisters pull their masks off. I saw old ladies who pulled theirs down every time they wanted to speak to their travelling companions. I watched fat people eat the entire flight, so kept the mask on their chin the whole time. I saw one family with masks that it looked like mom had them stitched together from old t-shirts. Some other people merely had neck-scarves pulled over the mouths.
Masks are complete and utter covid comedy-theater.
This probably assumes they are using a new mask on a regular basis too, which we all know is not happening.
I don’t know if it’s the same study, but Laura Ingraham was talking about a study that showed NO benefit from the common cloth “fashion” masks that most people wear, and about an 11% benefit for medical-grade masks. Neither study justifies the mask hysteria prevalent on the left and among some on the right.
When the real science contradicts the official science, the real science is ignored.
Covid virus particles are smaller than the air openings in the mask so wearing a mask to keep you safe from the virus is like putting up chicken wire to keep out mosquitos.
But as the author says, it’s a matter of government control and I know that first hand. On a trip last April I took too long to finish my drink and the conductor angrily told me if he saw me again without my mask I would be thrown off the train at the next stop. But defying an airplane flight attendant subjects you to arrest at the next arrival location.
I have stage 3/4 COPD and breathing is ordinarily a chore and short breaths.
At rest, I breathe relatively normally and comfortably and I use an O2 generator at night set on 2liters p/hr.
I check my O2 frequently and I average between 93 and 96, but remember, that is quality, not quantity.
I put a paper mask on, even covering my nose, and my O2 level never changed, at rest, for about 10 minutes.
I did some moderately strenuous work for a few minutes (all I could do before becoming too winded), and my O2 never changed.
The mask is not an oxygen issue, it's a freedom issue.
That's all I wanted to say, ..... (paper) masks do not affect O2 intake
Wearing masks is more likely to protect a totalitarian takeover than protect you from Covid-19.

Herd mentality via sheeple never ends well.....
‘Americans are desperate to be part of something bigger than themselves.’
all of humanity, dead and living, is subject to this need; as the only species aware of aging and its connection with death and sorrow, humans needed a response to come to grips with the desolation of dying...
as a result, religions were formulated to provide a rationale for that response...
‘That’s all I wanted to say, ..... (paper) masks do not affect O2 intake’
oh, OK; thanks for chiming in...
Thanks for this mask wearing study info. I will need to refer to it later, I’m sure.
