Cruise Hive The Public Health Emergency in the U.S. has been extended which impacts the Conditional Sailing Order and cruise ships.
The Public Health Emergency Status in the United States has been extended again for the sixth time. A declaration that the Public Health Emergency is over would have meant that the conditions in which cruise ships are operating under the Conditional Sail Order would effectively be over.
It is not to be as Secretary of Health, and Human Services Xavier Becerra extended the health emergency on July 19. A declaration of a public health emergency ensures government organizations have far-reaching power to ensure the health and safety of the general public.
Previously the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC, declared the No Sail order for cruise ships from and inside the US under this status and the current Conditional Sail Order.
Conditional Sailing Order Stands Firm The extension of the Public Health Emergency confirms once again that the Conditional Sail Order, which operates under the Public Health Emergency Status, is here to stay. Each extension of the emergency status is for an additional 90 days, meaning the current extension brings us to the end of October.
The Conditional Sail Order can be rescinded in three ways, either through the end of the Public Health Emergency, the CDC Director rescinds or modifies the order based on specific public health or other considerations; or November 1, 2021, when the original order is set to expire. However, even at this point, the CDC director could choose to extend the order again if the agency feels there are still significant risks to cruising.
The extension from the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, reads as follows:
As a result of the continued consequences of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, on this date and after consultation with public health officials as necessary, I, Xavier Becerra, Secretary of Health and Human Services, pursuant to the authority vested in me under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act, do hereby renew, effective July 20, 2021, the January 31, 2020, determination by former Secretary Alex M. Azar II, that he previously renewed on April 21, 2020, July 23, 2020, October 2, 2020, and January 7, 2021, and that I renewed on April 15, 2021, that a public health emergency exists and has existed since January 27, 2020, nationwide.
What Are The Cruise Lines Saying Although there has been significant pressure on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the last nine months, in particular, the current guidelines from the CDC seem to be an agreeable balance between the agency and the cruise lines.
The CDC has been remarkably quick with approving ships for test cruises, while the agency has also given the cruise industry leeway in cruising with vaccinated guests. While the cruise lines will be happy to sail without restrictions in the future, the measures are reasonable in the eyes of the cruise industry.
If the industry would sail without measures in place and an outbreak would occur onboard, the ensuing chaos would hurt it more than the profits they would be able to take from sailing with full ships.
In the last few weeks, it has even come to the point where Norwegian Cruise Line has sued Florida over a proof of vaccine ban in place in the state. The cruise line calls its ability to require proof of vaccination from passengers, as Cruise Hive reported only last week. At this point, it would seem that the cruise lines are happy to operate under the CSO.
What does this mean for guests onboard cruise ships? According to the latest reports from Carnival Cruise Line, not much. The cruise experience for many has been outstanding, with fewer guests on board but the same experiences and amenities as always.
There’s ZERO real crisis or emergency
“Send more funny money”
The ships and the people that man and serve Cruises are the means of production.
Capitalism is unconcerned with the means of production.
Whatever it takes for the DemonRat CHEATERS to CHEAT their way through the 2022 election, right?
WE ALL KNEW THIS WAS COMING.
Current death rate like a very typical flu season.
It really is the flu, bro.
And no one shuts down their country because of the flu.
This is 100% about power and has zero to do with a virus.
The Cruise Lines going along with our CDC, just made that cheating easier, by continuing, the Covid panic. -and bowing to the panic. - Tom

To me, this is the kicker. And, No - requiring vaccination is not a measure. There exists plenty of evidence, already that vaccination is no proof against infection.
There cannot be another Diamond Princess, even if infection breaks out aboard ship.
Right now the CDC are punishing the unvaccinated by penalizing them with extra costs ...
The vaccinated are treated just the same as they were before the Wu Hu Flu...no protocols for them...no
Until the end of October, the unvaccinated on Carnival have to wear masks, have separate special seating, only go to a few events, stay on the ships or pay to take a ‘bubble’ shore excursion to the beach, buy travel insurance and pay through the nose for tests and get the 72 hour PCR test...
If its so important why arent the vaccinated required to at least get the 72 hour PCR test also ???
The Sept/Oct cruises just got their Email y6esterday and 48 hours to request an exemption for themselves ...for child under 12, medical, religion...They have to pay in full online before the form linked to the Email works...
If they are denied they will be refunded all their money...
BTW up to how only vaccinated have got the Wu Hu Flu on most ships starting back...
We may end up seeing massive amounts of relatively new cruise ships being scrapped. The result: cruises by 2023 could be literally priced out of average consumers.
“It really is the flu, bro.”
My then-unvaccinated BIL says otherwise.
Thanks, Capt. Tom.
*PING* to you entropy.

Requiring vaccinations is the best measure. The vaccines are 95% effective. Requiring 100% proof against infection is absurd.
I don’t know about “absurd”, but I don’t think the cruise industry is going to want to just accept low odds. They would certainly be taking a gamble that you know what you are talking about.
The Diamond Princess strikes me as a particular disaster for the industry. There was no provision to get the uninfected off of the ship, and I believe the end result was worse than it had to be.
Your vaccine is not the only, or even best, solution. It might be legal cover, but that is not going to restore customer confidence, if the worst happens. Other measures could improve the situation, I might think dramatically, and whether passengers are vaccinated or not.
They have NO CHOICE. THD CDC is now RUNNING the country!!
I know that someone in the Biden regime would sabotage us, but I think it would be interesting if a cruise line set aside one ship for us. No masks. No anti-social distancing. No inoculations. Basically, return to cruising as it was in January 2020. I wonder how quickly it would sell out.
Again, of course the commies would introduce some cootie to spoil it, but it would be nice to get back to normal. (I can dream, can’t I?)
Thanks for the ping. I will lose my temper and break my TV if my September cruise gets cancelled by anyone, especially CDC or Becerra.
